Awesome performance man! You have a very relaxed playing style, impressive when you're actually playing some tricky stuff. Even your fast double bass seems nice and relaxed with that swivel technique. I remember seeing a clip of Lopez playing a part of this song where he's doing some crazy patterns with the cymbals. What fill are you doing at 05:08 btw? It's a really cool little fill! That 3 up/2 down drum setup is perfect for Opeth music. When I find my own studio space for an acoustic kit (that really is the dream!) that would definitely be the kit setup I'd go for. Having that really high tom gives you that more exotic Latin percussion sound to add in :-) The Star Walnut is one of my dream kits too, such a punchy sounding wood. I have the Star Zebrawood snare but that's the only acoustic drum I have...nowhere to keep or play my own acoustic kit at the moment. One Opeth song I'd love to see covered on drums is Serenity Painted Death. Quite a long song like Ghost of Perdition and also has a mix of fast double bass runs, the Lopez signature 6/8 feel and more. Will try covering it myself sometime but it would need a hell of a lot of practice...I find it quite hard to remember songs that long as I get focussed on trying to remember every tiny little detail.
