I dig this more right now. This is like halfway between old Opeth and that Italian band Goblin at times... Less metal, but more interesting and classical/ jazz. It suits them.

It's because a lot of music fans want their favourite bands to make the same album 10 different times. It's ridiculous. I agree, this is a beautiful album. It's totally ok not to like it, but it's straight-up stupid to want everything to sound like their "old stuff." I'd rather Opeth and every other band play what they want to play, what ever music they're into
@anubis243-x5h6 жыл бұрын

Joso Ubiparip Is this song or album against God? The lyrics 'Dying wish to shun a God' might suggest that it is a bit against God.
@darkomarkac526810 жыл бұрын
a bit? I would say it is very against God. Everyone has a god or his own way of interpreting the meaning of human existence. This is perhaps a rebellion against conventional thinking about God. Also Mikael sings 'God is dead'. By such a beautiful and gentle voice :)
@RohannvanRensburg9 жыл бұрын
+Joso Ubiparip Not really. Mikael has said that wasn't a philosophical statement. Listen to the whole of "The Devil's Orchard" and pay attention to how the "God is dead!" goes from triumph, to at the very end, a terribly chilling and hopeless small distant voice. The record is fantastic, beautiful, and at some points wonderfully upbeat. But the undercurrent is a painted picture of a hopeless world, and it's really rather chilling and lonely. It's far more like what a world without God would be like.

I feel bad that this album goes so underappreciated because of how adamant most Opeth fans are about the band they like always sticking to the same formula every time they create an album. This song is really beautiful. I especially love how melancholy the intro is. It brings me back to my childhood and makes me think about a lot of different aspects of my life.

Those who feel that way were just metal heads...not that there is anything wrong with that! However, Opeth has grown like those who aged along with them, right?
