As others have stated, fuckin Martin Lopez is such a beast. Just go back and listen to the Deliverance album. That is like a clinic on badass drumming. As for Axe (no longer in Opeth at this writing), he is good in the Roundhouse Tapes, but I always liked him better in Bloodbath TBH. As much as I love Opeth, I love Bloodbath better, circa 2000-2011 \m/ \m/

Yes, one hundred percent. Martin Lopez’s attitude and creative force is unmatched to this day. Have you heard him in his current band Soen? He seems to be comfortable there but no where near as bright energetic and creative as he was with Opeth, seems like Mikael pushed him to amazing creative limits Lopez had in him, really created amazing drumming masterpieces. Currently sad to say he’s performing almost easy basic drumming for Soen. Sad his mental health was suffering and couldn’t continue with Opeth :( Axe was also amazing, still super upset he left.

Remember this gig clearly, must have been about 21 years old at the time (almost 40 now). Remember how awkwardly hilarious it was seeing a bunch of Metalheads in Morbid Angel/Deicide shirts standing around waiting for the extreme metal part of the set to start.
