@@arch92 your right "the satan" is a term that means "the adversary". In time it was used to describe the relationship of the "fallen one", lucifer, to mankind, which is, amongst other things, an "adversary". So lucifer is "the adversary" or "the satan". Which in modern times has become "satan", or "the devil". Peace.

I’ve listened to Opeth for so long it feels more like seeing a really good friend that lives overseas when they drop a new album. They were in my ears back in the 90s when I was a kid and life at home was tumultuous, in the 2000s when all I did was skate and smoke pot, in the early 2010s when I first became a father, and now I get to hear new Opeth the same week my son started second grade! I’m gonna make sure to blast the fuck out of this album in between breaks of watching Midsommar once that shit goes to DVD, GOD BLESS OPETH AND ALL THE BEAUTIFUL SWEDES!

@roybatty45785 жыл бұрын
There’s no need to apologize for a question lol. It’s a crude comparison on my part due to Opeth being Swedish and the film by Ari Aster taking place in Sweden. The movie is really pretty, and there’s a lot of shocking moments that bring up the imagery of death metal artwork, so naturally I’m gonna listen to their entire catalog and watch this film more than once this month lol
@yourmothercalledshesaid5 жыл бұрын
I love your correlation between this album and Aster's follow up to his nightmare inducing breakout film. I regard both "Heriditary" and "Midsommar" as standout contemporary examples of the horror genre and raw proof not every scary flick has to be associated with James Wan at Blumhouse. A24 is gifting cinema goers with wonderfully bold movements. Seriously, anybody insane enough to finish reading this comment, if you have not had the pleasure of experiencing "Hereditary", "Midsommar", or "The Witch" and possess a love of all things taboo, do yourself some justice and see the aforementioned. Or not. Choices... I cannot wait for "The Lighthouse". I digress...

Opeth is the only band I listen without recognizing them...it's like every few years I click on one of the new things to see if I can still recognize this band...and I just can't...I'm listening it each time the way I listen bands I never heard off, like that careful listen with a finger on the mouse and mouse pointer on the "back" button, without much faith that the ear will like what it hears...and somehow that finger always ends up clicking away. It's like seeing someone who was once a best friend to you, only to recognize a stranger in his eyes and fall a pray to the emotion that dictates a retreat from him. Idk, no bad blood in case anyone is reading this, it's just that I don't recognize myself in this. It feels like reading a character I can't identify myself with...I'm glad to see others enjoy at least.

Yea boi, spooky Famine 2.0! More of that grotesque stuff that I can never have enough of. This part is even better in swedish because it makes the lyrics sound like some baneful chant.

First note was like hearing classic era Uriah Heap, and then it somehow continues to get better from there. Good God I love this band. I haven't been anticipating an album like this since... the last Opeth album.
