@@juliansevin9109 Wrong. In the bible lucifer is the angel who opposed god. And this is even disputed in various translations. It was really only the fantasy novel Paradise Lost which popularized the confusion between the two. But no where is the bible are the two names even remotely compared.

@@arch92 your right "the satan" is a term that means "the adversary". In time it was used to describe the relationship of the "fallen one", lucifer, to mankind, which is, amongst other things, an "adversary". So lucifer is "the adversary" or "the satan". Which in modern times has become "satan", or "the devil". Peace.

I’ve listened to Opeth for so long it feels more like seeing a really good friend that lives overseas when they drop a new album. They were in my ears back in the 90s when I was a kid and life at home was tumultuous, in the 2000s when all I did was skate and smoke pot, in the early 2010s when I first became a father, and now I get to hear new Opeth the same week my son started second grade! I’m gonna make sure to blast the fuck out of this album in between breaks of watching Midsommar once that shit goes to DVD, GOD BLESS OPETH AND ALL THE BEAUTIFUL SWEDES!

There’s no need to apologize for a question lol. It’s a crude comparison on my part due to Opeth being Swedish and the film by Ari Aster taking place in Sweden. The movie is really pretty, and there’s a lot of shocking moments that bring up the imagery of death metal artwork, so naturally I’m gonna listen to their entire catalog and watch this film more than once this month lol
@yourmothercalledshesaid

I love your correlation between this album and Aster's follow up to his nightmare inducing breakout film. I regard both "Heriditary" and "Midsommar" as standout contemporary examples of the horror genre and raw proof not every scary flick has to be associated with James Wan at Blumhouse. A24 is gifting cinema goers with wonderfully bold movements. Seriously, anybody insane enough to finish reading this comment, if you have not had the pleasure of experiencing "Hereditary", "Midsommar", or "The Witch" and possess a love of all things taboo, do yourself some justice and see the aforementioned. Or not. Choices... I cannot wait for "The Lighthouse". I digress...

Opeth is the only band I listen without recognizing them...it's like every few years I click on one of the new things to see if I can still recognize this band...and I just can't...I'm listening it each time the way I listen bands I never heard off, like that careful listen with a finger on the mouse and mouse pointer on the "back" button, without much faith that the ear will like what it hears...and somehow that finger always ends up clicking away. It's like seeing someone who was once a best friend to you, only to recognize a stranger in his eyes and fall a pray to the emotion that dictates a retreat from him. Idk, no bad blood in case anyone is reading this, it's just that I don't recognize myself in this. It feels like reading a character I can't identify myself with...I'm glad to see others enjoy at least.

Right, already people complaining about growls, and how it’s a “boring” song. Our culture of instant gratification and short attention spans demands easily digestible music. This song reminds me of Storm Corrosion which is a life partner for me. It took some time to appreciate it and now it’s one of my favorites. The same idiots hating on this song, also thought Storm Corrosion was boring. They’d rather have a mediocre uninspired rehash of the death metal albums, instead of constant musical evolution and creativity

"At the turn of a year many people experience a feeling of melancholy at the thought of what will never reappear. Others worry about the impending change that mean uncertainty and perhaps a turn for the worse. All these sentiments are by themselves understandable. Someone said the other day that we live in the time of great upheaval... The prince of betrayal kneels Digs deep in his purse By his side, an untouched body Tense before the nuptials She is young Much too young Much too young Who can lead a life of dignity? No trouble for obvious secrecy No no no no no A false thought Your safety in jeopardy Soul price for cherished possession No no no no no Congratulated on a happy affair Your life had a purpose Insinuating your life is precious So that your submission is warranted Waiting for night Opening your door Entering... Drunk Swede here. Loving Opeth, helping Opeth diaspora understanding the lyrics in Swedish. Not as poetic as can be, but hoping helping... First listen and this is beyond amazing. Music and visuals. Have experienced Opeth albums since Ghost Reveries after release (as my music listening has taken other directions) but now I'm really hyped for September 27th!

Hey mikael. Just watched your interview on the Nuclear Blast Records channel and it's inspiring. I've always had the thought that you play what YOU enjoy rather than what people want to hear, and that interview confirmed it. I love the screams and growls as much as anyone but what I love more is your progression as a band. Your new album is simply inspired. I'm just going through it now to pick out the bass lines but man, the more I listen, the better it gets. I'm no real musician but I love the jazz form that you guys bring to this genre of music. Keep doing what you feel like doing and people will love it. No trend here. Love it!

I feel like Mikael's growls would actually go with this current style very well on the more "heavy" parts. That said, this new album is shaping up to be fantastic.

After seeing them live in Leeds, especially after this song, I was amazed and astonished of how they manage to be so emotional but brutal even not growling, or using standard aggressive clichés. They're awesome above every measure.

First note was like hearing classic era Uriah Heap, and then it somehow continues to get better from there. Good God I love this band. I haven't been anticipating an album like this since... the last Opeth album.
