It has been an annual tradition at our school for over 30 years. On the Friday of Homecoming week, FFA members drive a tractor to school and park it out front to show their pride in agriculture. This year Abby drove Ophelia, our purple Oliver 1850. She had after school activities, so I drove it home that afternoon, and made it to the shop before a tire decided to go flat.

Grand daughter got to drive our 185 to school. 7 Miles. Grandpa did what you did ridding along. She had some experience "catching on the go" with that tractor and grain cart with her dad in the combine. I should have got some pics. For our farm kids it's kid of a "right of passage" thing when they do the drive your tractor to school. Abby looks like a pro behind the wheel. That 1850 is getting more road time than field time. The smiles were ones that would take an undertaker 3 weeks to get the body to stop smiling. Maybe if you put a few gallons of window washer fluid into each tire it would gently iron out any wrinkles and possibly make the tire run a little cooler along with automatically balancing the tire when running. Also, we always inflated the tube just enough to make it not want to wrinkle or fall into the beads when putting it back together. Ophelia and Herman keep popping up in a multitude of other tractor videos. Superstar status.

It’s really cool that your daughter’s school does things like this. When I was in high school most of the farm land had already been built up so we never got to do this kind of stuff. When I graduated in 2017 there were only 4 students left in the school with an agricultural background

We have a huge FFA enrollment in our school, and have been the #1 chapter in the state off and on the last few years. Our Ag teacher retired, and with breaking in a new one and all of the covid stuff, things have slipped some. There were only 3 tractors this year, but harvest started early so tractors are harder to come by for a lot of the kids.

Good Morning Chris! Aw lol the smile on Abbys face driving the tractor was awesome. She will remember driving that tractor to school with her dad forever. Very cool. Glad that didnt happen on the road, that was a weird mark in the tube tho.. usually when I catch them with the bar or pinch them it looks like a snakebite with 2 little holes lol. I can’t remember what it was on but I did a tire one day that had such a funny rim I actually used the shop vac to suck the air out of the tube and flatten it against the rim as much as i could, just because i was so worried I was going to pinch it. Awesome video have a great day my friend. Also, the viewer pictures at the end were cool, looks like Marcus is a younger guy that pulls his Oliver ?
@ThatOliverGuyChris

When I catch them with the tire spoon, there's usually an abrasion around the hole, plus they leak right away, not 2 months later. The rubber feels kind of thin for a rear tractor tire. We just bought a Firestone tube for Alan's 1650, and even though it was made in korea, it felt much heavier.

Not too many in this day and age that would want to ride or drive an open station tractor. Chris, you should sneak in a train air horn on Ophelia. That would really get Abby extra points next time she drives it. Well, it's only flat on one side Chris, it'll be alright. Get you one of those rollers, looks like a pizza cutter, those work the best for patches. As much as I like running with fluid in the rears, this is where it's a good thing to not have them filled.

I try to email you the links that your superstar tractors appear in on KZbin. It seems that Herman gets into videos of various videos of tractors working pulling plows and etc. and Ophelia in her parades. Look at the tractor identification video I sent to you and see the guy with a light beard driving a tractor that looked like Herman or his identical twin. You driving Herman behind Abby driving Ophelia would make any parade boss and PA announcer say "IF YOU ALL LOOK AT THIS, THE BEAUTY AND THE BEAST ARE COMING PAST THE REVIEWING STANDS!"

I watched the tractor id video. That clip of me was swiped from my friend Phil's KZbin. It seems nice to be noticed, but all these guys do is take tidbits from other channels, put them together, many times mirroring the video so it's harder for the copyright algorithm to catch them. Then with almost no work, they can sit back and make revenue off other's videos. It's nice to be noticed, but you don't see them giving credit to the place they snagged it from.

Wow, that would be really cool to drive the tractor to school. I have a question for you I grew up on a farm dad had two Oliver 770s and one super 77. We left a farm in the late 1970s I was in the middle of 7th grade. I've been seeing Oliver 880s and super 88s what seems to be the difference between all of these different tractors? I do miss driving the tractors and plowing didn't really miss the chores before school and after school. Thanks Michael
@ThatOliverGuyChris
@ThatOliverGuyChris 2 жыл бұрын
The main differences are age and horsepower. The Super 77 was replaced by the 770 in 1958. The 770 was the same basic tractor as the Super 77, but with new sheet metal, more horsepower, and several new options like Power Booster Drive and Power Traction Hitch. Same thing goes for the Super 88 and 880. The Super 88 was Oliver's next bigger model up from the Super 77, and they were produced at the same time.
