Instead of a dad who had been in heavy combat for 6 months and was wounded bad. Then comes back after getting out of the hospital after 6 months there. After that dad is shell shocked for the rest of his life which creates tremendous pressure on our family life. He was a hero to me and I wanted so bad to live up to him. After 26 months in Vietnam I realized I could never live up to him. It has bothered me for 50 years. No tv show could ever replace. I still cry for him now because I loved him so much but I could never really tell him that.

Opie hates it because he hates his teacher, and for a good reason. Helen is never happy, she's always mad about something or another. In this one, she was wrong to come into the courthouse and lash out at Andy, then nearly running over Barney as she stormed out. I can't stand Helen Crump and neither can many other fans of the show.

Barney's know it all attitude annoyed me. Especially in the Bird getting shot by the sling shot episode. Another one was the episode where Barney convinced Opie he would will the 50 yard dash. Not could but would. At first Barney was funny but after a while he became a real jerk shooting his gun with Opie in the room. Admiring a criminals status and loosing his loaded gun.. He had Andy convinced Opie was just a liar when he was telling them about Mr. McBeevee.
