Thank you Opossum, not only for the mention and you being there since day 1, but also calling out the hypocritical behavior that’s happening regarding Korean cards. People would think the cards were fake yet now they’re asking more than ever where to get them from. Just laughing at how people are pushing Korean cards the minute the usual stuff, Japanese and English, becomes unavailable but also I pray people are more aware of the differences. It pisses me off when breakers make out that the Korean cards they sell are Japanese or just don’t indicate they’re Korean at all. 🙄 Back in 2020 I had to call out a breaker on KZbin (*hint this person is a Hypebeast and is still active to this day) during his stream about how he wasn’t advertising that the Shiny Star V packs he was breaking for ppl were Korean (from the comments it appeared that people thought they were getting Japanese cards). Please please to anyone reading this comment, pay attention to what you’re buying. Support who you want but don’t fall for the extortionate prices for Korean cards. You shouldn’t be paying more than $1-2 a pack.

That's why I stopped collecting foreign cards because I don't know the languages or know what the difference would be. I loved collecting the Japanese cards because there would be cards English wouldn't get or it showcased what cards would be coming out. I stopped collecting after gym heros/gym challenge. I had no clue that once English is "sold out" then the other prints get scalped. Thanks for the heads up to both of you.

I started collecting JP cards for a few reasons: 1. I found out how amazing their textures are. 2. I’m learning Japanese myself. I can only recognize Hiragana for now though. 3. Sets are smaller, so 1 booster box can get you more than half the set. 4. “Non-holo rares” are actually uncommons. Making the set easier to complete minus the SR’s. Now luckily, Scarlet and Violet for English is fixing the “non-holo rares.” Now if the textures of the cards are the same as JP, I’d be more inclined to get more English packs instead.

I also love the full art Trainers for collecting. I was working on Japanese and English for the longest time, but have pretty much just been focusing on English. I haven't even gotten a JP booster box since vmax climax, market went way to wack. The group full art trainers are the best, even the different FA Copycats are some of my favorites. Love the content bud, only great things to come for you and your channel hopefully. The only Korean cards I ever bought were the 2020 starter decks with Blastoise, Venusaur and Charizard. Because I thought it would be cool to have all the V's and Vmax's in English, Korean and Japanese. I remember when you could get the Korean booster boxes on eBay for under $30. No one wanted them 3 years ago pretty much... Then again Japanese went from close to MSRP, to double, to 4x in the same time depending on the set... Now we're seeing Thai, Indo and Chinese cards starting to pop up more frequently from US sellers as well adjusted to about double MSRP or more.

Got a bit of Korean Eevee heroes a while back when it was cheap compared to the Japanese and English variants! I even watched Krystal’s videos on Korean boxes to make sure I knew what I was buying and the fact that you are not guaranteed a SR in a Korean box is even tougher because full arts are SRs. Idk probably going to be a sellers new gimmick to hype Korean cards. Anyways thanks as always for your videos!

@@OpossumBud the biggest difference between what I did with my Korean cards in compared to a lot of other people who open them at the same time as I did was I didn’t bring up the fact that I thought they were fake on the video I didn’t mean post a video until I did a little bit of research to make sure that I had real cards. So many people are in a rush to just put out content to put a content in even if it’s putting out wrong information they still do it. When I opened it, I treated it like I was opening any other pack, but after the video is done, I made sure that they were real and then I posted it if I had any doubt in my mind that they’re fake I want to post it.

I mostly focus on the PTCG in Asian languages myself. Ever since this shit has been happening to Japanese I've been pretty scared of the same things happening to other languages. For this reason I've kept a lot of info regarding those languages only between people I trust. I remember Krystal would always get comments asking her where she got product (hell I used to be one of them!) And now I understand why she never responded to a single person asking her those questions.

My 2cents - Chinese/Korean cards have very little potential in terms of investment value, so it won't be long until the 'hypebeasts' realise that and move on to some other shit. I mean if anyone purely loves the art and want cheaper alternatives, by all means collect any language u want Thai/Vietnamese whatever, but those that are looking for gains will be in for a painful ride. I'm Chinese myself but i don't collect Chinese cards because reality is i won't be taking my collection to my grave and when i do decide to part ways with my collection i'd have a hard time getting rid of cards that aren't English/Japanese, that unfortunately is the hard truth. Even within the Chinese collectors community majority of them collect Japanese and try to stay away from Chinese cards.

I feel like there's many factors causing these insane prices. Pokeinvestors and hypebois needing a new target since they jacked up the vintage market and now it's played out. People new to the Japanese market see $120 per booster box and have been gaslit into thinking its normal because that's about the going rate for an English booster box. Far less supply vs English because Japan has a much smaller population, so smaller print runs. Top that off with countless other people who are now also doing live pack openings or just ripping packs and selling singles or sealed product. And did this dude really think he could just blast out to the world how much money he was making and how easy it was, all from home during a pandemic, and no one else would jump in? Hope the 15 seconds was worth it my guy. I honestly wish Whatnot would go away, it's the tiktok of online selling. Thanks for vids as always Bud, keep doing your thing my man!

I usually buy Japanese cards if it's at a normal price. but we also now have vstar universe going for 120+ USD & english when it's on sale or if it's something I really want to get then I would pay full price. in general our booster boxes are more expensive but that seems to be the norm for english here

I mean, not that it isn’t also a huge problem that kid’s can’t afford to buy cards at this point, but, fuck, man, I’m 33 and it’s been passed the point of ME being able to afford English or Japanese cards for the better part of a year now. I’m surprised that there aren’t more people flying over to Japan, filling bags with Pokémon cards and office supplies, then flying back and selling them. Add in a hop over to the mainland and grab another language’s Pokémon cards. South Korea would probably be a good choice, because of people getting excited about Korean cards, but also you could grab some k-pop merch that would sell well in the States. Plan it with building up frequent flyer miles and I bet it would be cost effective. I remember after 9/11 when flights were dirt cheap, I planned a weekend whirlwind trip to Tokyo. Where you sleep on the flight there and the flight back, so you don’t need a hotel room. I couldn’t convince anyone to go with me. Flights aren’t as cheap now, but the principle is still solid.

Genuine question. (Idk Vortex). Why is he getting the smoke and not the customers? Like you said at the end of the video, everyone can decide what to do with their own money but shouldnt the smoke be directed towards the customers who are willingly pay for the packs at $25 vs the host who is probably starting at $1? If nobody over pays for the packs, the host doesn’t make money (or at least not $25 a pack money). So this seems to be more of a customer problem since they are willing to purchase for higher imo. We had to stop selling Japanese in December. We got one decent shipment /case of Vstar for 80usd/each in Canada. Prices are now nutso. Cannot restock as it’s the op much now.

@@OpossumBud yes, I was expecting prices to come down so we can put them in the store. I just cannot charge customers these inflated Japanese prices. I feel bad for people in Japan. Lotteries and limits. Same problems we had here in North America in 2020
