Exactly. VERY FEW, and I mean VERY FEW (think like 1-2%) of singles will ever maintain/increase in value exponentially and it’s due to one reason mainly. There’s just too many different cards and there’s too many of those cards (even the elusive illustrator has around 268 copies), lol. People only have so much money they can dump into the hobby among other things in life. Everyone thinks that if they just buy everything then they’re gonna make all that back and way more if they just wait. That’s just not how it works. More of than not, you’re going to get less than what you paid for (ESPECIALLY if you got it in/around any period of hype). If it really was as simple as just waiting around, you wouldn’t see some/a lot of actually first wave vintage dropping even now. It’ll go up and then it’ll drop again. It won’t however go up and stay up. Especially with modern cards where more people take better care of their cards. This is a good thing though. It allows more people to have a chance at holding/enjoying them. Let’s be honest, when you really think about it, that’s all we are doing, just holding them for a little while; and If we’re lucky we can break even or get a bit of profit when the inevitable time comes to part with some or all of our collection (when life gets in the way, it simply gets in the way).

My advice: If you buy any individual card on the release of a set as a financial investment, you will always lose money. Only buy something if you like it & wait for prices to come down. Never bet against PC reprinting a set while it's still in standard rotation. If you paid $70 per card on like 30 Pikachu VMAX TGs because a Reddit post told you to, you need to reassess your investment strategies. I would personally recommend just buying the stuff you like when the price goes down, though ideally wait for about ~1.5-2.5 years into a set before buying any Singles as "investments". If you pull cards, just do whatever you want with them. I use my Alt Arts as toilet paper

Pokemon Card Investing is Gambling in the first place. We're gambling TPC won't eff up the franchise and bust or don't perpetuate the popularity, you bet on popular cards going under the radar for long term investments, you bet on a set being popular for a quick turn around. So many people are saying Surging Sparks is going to be the one with very little knowledge of what cards are even going to be in it! I don't know, my thing with Pokemon cards is if I'd spend that much in a casino or lottery, then I will invest in some of these cards, otherwise I'll save that for the stock market (which is also still a gamble, but you can at least have people be paid to manage that).

I'm not surprised because if the Cosmic Eclipse Pikachu with Red didn't go up in price then why would these other two go up in price? I mean the art work is of Red getting Pikachu at Professor Oak's lab which is definitely more of a better 'story' than the Pikachu V and VMax cards.
