Every player is different. Messi needs absolute freedom in the attack to go and do what he does.

When people are going to stop thinking that 10s are midfielders because they are not, they are 10 which is a hybrid of 9 and 8. they are not good at 9 or 8 positions but will gets you lot of goals and assist so you play them behind the striker where they are free to roam with less defensive work because it is getting done by a 8 and 6 and also the possessional part of the game.

It’s a very specialised position that isn’t easy to play. They’ve got to have freedom to be able to go out there and create.
