I wanted to create an aquascape next the the red Betta tank that was the opposite in colours but also hardscape. I had a pair of Apistogramma Cacatuoides that I wanted to create a home for and this was the perfect tank.

Hi MD. I have a question. I need to do a rescape and I want to use the meshbags like you do and cover it all with sand. What do you do with plants like ludwigia when you trim them? I usually take out the stem with roots and replant the clippings. I think that'd be difficult when all the roots are intertwined with the bags. I hope you have time to answer me! Simply stunning MD! ! I think the choice to keep the hardscape similar to betta tank really helps tie the two tanks together while the colors of rock and plants contrast each other. Truly artistic. You now have 2 dragons!!! On the left, an ice dragon with fire erupting from the cool but bold rock formation. On the right, the forest dragon, with fire erupting from the back of the dragon itself, while the rock bursts from the ground. Amazingly epic design!!!! Nailed it!

I kept a 75 gallon for two years and it was my first tank full of South American cichlids I’ve had to break it down and re home them all because I’m moving from Florida to Maine I only had hard scape and fake plants and you’ve inspired me to do a nano tank with tons of live plants I can’t wait to get moved and settled with my wife and kids up there. In the fall I’m gonna start a new tank and I’m going to use all your videos as inspiration and I’m beyond pumped. Excellent choice of colors. The bright rock is toned down by the black gravel. Rear tall plants block light shining through so fish are lighted way better from front & above. Great plan.

Yes, the contrast between the aquaria really works, and both sides look great. I am just getting into aquascaping and I learned a lot from your video. Pasting non-rooted plants to small stones to facilitate sinking and relocation. Putting focal mass on the side rather than the middle. Using mesh bags to keep soil from gravel (or different kinds of gravel from mixing). Your creme-coloured betta is really nice!

Looks amazing! Especially side by side, i really really like the dragonstone with the vibrant green plants, you should consider using dragonstone for more setups, but with more natural sand/gravel thats a similar color to the stone.

🤩 I love the contrast between the two scapes! Hopefully your apistos will be happy and make some babies! My son and I just got a pair of cockatoo apistos and after a week of settling in to their new home, they spawned! Our female used ohko stone for a spawning cave, so I’ll bet your scape will be perfect!

Would really love it if you had a 2-3 hour recording of some of your tanks. I use aquarium recording as calming sites on my computer at work, and just loop the play back on youtube so that when I am not busy I can just watch the fish being fish. Just and Idea. Love your scapes.
