People out here in Malaysia putting Arowana in a 2 ft aquarium and you are putting Endlers in a 4 ft. This is how the standards should be. This is what accountable, responsible fishkeeping look like. It looks amazing! Yes, its going to cost more to create this, but absolutely worth it!

My 84 yr old dad, who is a lifelong outdoorsman, but couldn't care less about indoor aquariums, was very taken with your hardscaping! He said that's exactly how they drop wood and branches around lake docks to attract crappie fish!
@msbranen626111 ай бұрын
@danielthompson3205 I'm not sure what you mean. My intent is to compliment MD on the accuracy of the environment he created. My dad was impressed and said that's exactly the habitat the Crappy (which are game fish) want to live in. Probably poorly written on my part. Apologies and best wishes.

This is what I attempted to do in my setup. I'm actually working on it right now, taking a break.Decorative sand next, then my hardscape and a few endlers, snails and shrimp for now. Pool sand for $19.99, 50 pound bag and free rocks from a nearby farmers rock pile (we had permission to forage) the wood was a big expense as well as the plants, lol. I'm happily creating. Like you sayMD, just chuck it in until you're happy with your build, lol.

I had some Santa Maria endlers breeding outside last summer in the UK, in a green water tub. Green water really makes endler and guppy colours pop. Mine had a beautiful metallic sheen to them. Those are some gorgeous guppers; such a far cry from the guppies that were available 35 years ago when I, as a kid, graduated from a goldfish bowl to an actual small guppy tank 😄 All those plants look so very good too; I just ordered a couple mother plants to fill in some open spaces in my main tank - and of course, just as those came in and I wanted to put them into the tank, I noticed my emperor tetras had bred; wouldn't you know, right in the spot where I needed to move some of the old plants to 😆

The algae infested tank at the start, you mentioned it looked like a mossball :p As quoted from Green Aqua's algae guide (would recommend reading through it, it's very thorough): Blanked Weed (Cladophora) Some will blame the moss-ball for spreading the Cladophora infection. The truth is, that the moss-ball is indeed a type of Cladophora, but it is different from the one that causes the Blanket-Weed invasion. The moss-ball is slow-growing, so it can also be easily attacked by algae, that will thrive on the surface of the ball. The Blanket Weed is a rough, branching algae that looks a like some kind of moss. It will stick hardly in a point and spread from there, so it can be isolated and removed from the middle of your plants. If it contaminates your moss, you will need to trim it down hard. Algae eaters will avoid it. Improving flow and CO2 will help, weaker lighting will push it back relative to the plants. This algae will not spread in air, so you can completely avoid it if you use only lab-grown plants in your aquarium.
