Untrue, Nell Carter was the original Effie. Ms Carter probably made no connection to the Supremes. Jennifer Holliday publicly stated her performance was based on her mother's relationship with her father, and rejected Jennifer Hudson's Oscar reference to Florence Ballard. Yeah, may Tom Eyen and his partner drew themes from the Supreme-Motown drama but the comparison was overwrought. By the way, how did that lawsuit go?

Miss Ross apparently has used the 'we were all young once' line to paper over her past behavior. The fact that she was actively ignoring and avoiding Sheryl Lee--mind you for years-- before Ross's child forced her to acknowledge she was ignoring Sheryl Lee says it all. There's a story of her putting on the same act at a public gathering with Mary Wilson--with fewer words spoken. No, never a sorry or I regret ("I acted like a witch with a capital B") Just I did what I did and I've moved on... Miss Ross is a piece of work... Many respect her many admire her but...she's a mess... Thank God her children are her testimony.
@lamoneal11 ай бұрын
Ross' big beef with Dreamgirls was, she said, twofold: she knew the people involved and they didn't run the play by her or give her a heads up about the plays narrative AND, she said they were making money off of her name. In other words, while her behavior might leave something to be desired, her reasons made sense. As mentioned she sued the movie and got an out of court settlement. She wasn't just being a bitch to be a bitch. She was protective of her name. As for Mary Wilson, she had her own difficult relationship with Ross, and both were to blame.
@solovoyager11 ай бұрын

It's totally unfair and sexist to label a woman as messy just because she stands up for herself, her business standards, and her brand. Unfortunately, there can be double standards when it comes to how men and women are perceived in these situations. We need to challenge and change these stereotypes. It's important for everyone, regardless of gender, to assert themselves and set boundaries without unfair judgment. And you're right, it's not just about gender, but also about race. Diana Ross, being a talented black woman, has faced her share of unfair judgments. Let's continue to support and celebrate strong women like Diana Ross who break barriers and inspire us all! 🌟💪🏽

I'm going to say this very definitively.. Diana Ross never should have been in a group because she was too competitive. I think competitive in the sense to make it as a star and she pursued Berry Gordy in order to do so; even if she didn't pursue, I believe she gave in to his advances if that's how it went. But, it was at the expense of her group mates, unfortunately. With that being said, Diana will never approve of a biopic while living. At least one that starts at the beginning of the Supremes. She'll probably do one of her own solo career, but not going back to the origins of the supremes and throughout their reign. Why? Because she would be seen in a negative light, the antagonist or the villain in the biopic/story. There's just no way of getting around that without telling the hard truth about Diana Ross. That's why whoever it was (her and her lawyers maybe) sued the people who made the actual movie with Jennifer hudson and Beyonce in it
