One of my biggest confusions when starting optavia 5&1 plan was understanding healthy fats and condiments. In this video I will break down the difference between the two and how to use them when starting optavia weightloss plan. Condiments can also be used with your optavia lean and green.

*** My salad dressing TIP = I add plain "water" to my salad dressing. Example: I have 2 tablespoons of Wishbone LIGHT salad dressing which is ONE serving .. then I "ADD" 1 to 2 tablespoons of water IN the salad dressing to stretch it out. Yes the dressing will be a little THIN in texture BUT it will cover a LOT of salad, smiles OR I can put iceberg shredded lettuce on a FORK and DIP it INTO the watered salad dressing that I have on the SIDE in a separate small condiment bowl. yeh! It's FUN for me to be creative ON PLAN and I hope it is for you all too. :-)

This is what I absolutely Love about you! Your videos are so easy, and Great! I Love salad, so you were the one I follow! I've lost just shy of 50lbs since the last week of Oct. So, just hit 3 months I keep it simple, only waffle hack! Keep condiments to a minimum, and only the approved snacks when I absolutely need them (mostly pickles). I'm loving life! Down 3 pant sizes! And wanted to Thank you again! You are a Beautiful inspiration!

Thank you! I've seen a lot of back and fourth about whether or not to count spices as condiments. My coach told me not to count spices. It's very confusing!

I count them just cause I like to keep track. It helps me identify when I have good weightloss weeks of what I need to cut back on. I would count them to start but if you are measuring and not using a lot you should be fine.

On the chart you can use the measurements to see how much each is worth. We use paprika and garlic powder. We mix it in a container and only use a little. They are counted as condiments.

My go to veggies def. lettuce, broccoli, green beans, cauliflower rice, cucumbers. I rotate those on the regular.

Honestly I have not transitioned how I should cause I know I want to lose a few more. I would definitely lose a little under ur goal weight. That’s what I’m doing. But I can def give info on transitioning.

I said I only use light dressings. That way if I use it for a healthy fat it’s not fat free. Sometimes the condiments and healthy fats can be confusing. You can probably use fat free dressing as a condiment but bit as your fat.

They are but they count as condiments and you are only allowed 3 a day. Check the condiment sheet for measurements. I have it linked in the description.

Can the 1/2 serving be applied to the green, ex: 1/2 serving tomatoes w 1/2 serving of celery , together to count as one vegetable

Hi thank you for sharing I’m still learning . Can I split my lean green and have1/2 for Lunch and the other for dinner ? Also I’m trying but I’m a breakfast person …. Any suggestion . Like if I do one hard boil egg which is2oz can I subtract that from what I will use for my green and lean . Also if I had one egg can I eat it with one of my fueling like a buttermilk biscuit

Yes to all of the above just remember when you split your lean and green just add another time to the schedule. Basically you will eat 7 times. It’s like 5 and 2. You can also have any part of your lean and green with a feuling. Just make sure to keep up with how much.

Can you subtract the fiber from the carbs? For example if there are 3 grams of fat and 14 carbs with 10 of those coming from fiber…can you say that there are 4 carbs? That is how diabetics determine carb counts.

how to you count half n half and nut pods. I like to use 1 tbs of either one of those in my coffee and I have two cups of coffee per day?

I think Half n half is counted as a healthy fat. Double check with your coach but the chart will list how much you can have for a healthy fat.

Laughing cow I know is a healthy fat. But when I checked the light laughing cow and only has 1.5 g of fat, so would I opt for the regular laughing cow wedges?

Yes use the regular just like dressing don’t get low fat dressing because you need that fat in it if your using it as your healthy fat.

I strruggle to understand why things like pepper and spices have to be super regulated under condiments. I get salt, but I don't understand the rest.

I think it’s just training us to understand that every thing counts. We sometimes use more than we actually need. And while we are trying to lose weight keeping track just helps.

I had 1/4 cup of unsweetened almond milk with cereal this morning. Should that be counted as 1/4 of 1 serving?

Yes so you can basically have 3 condiments. So this would be 1/4 of a condiment.

I'm struggling with preparing my meals with very limited condiments, specifically spices. I don't understand why something like Chilli powder that has 0 carbs, 0 fats, 0 calories is counted as a condiment. How is everyone cooking their foods?

I do a lot of salads and I use sugar free sauces. I also use spices I just measure them out.

If you have a meet from the last category meaning 5oz you don’t need a healthy fat. But you are allotted 3 condiments.

If you have it black it doesn’t count as a fueling. Some pole add the brownie or almond milk. If you add the brownie it’s a fueling if you add almond milk only that’s a condiment.

I think they just want you to get in the habit of limiting any xtra things you add. So they put a limit on it.

Hey, it's my 3rd day. My coach said I get three servings of vegetables that are 1/2, so would that be one cup of broccoli and half a cup to make it 1 1/2 of veggies? Oh as well, I have cereal in my box, and can I use almond milk and would that count as one of my condiments or I'm only allowed to have my condiments with my lean and green or can I use almond milk for my cereal to give it flavor or are we only allowed to eat the fuelings by themselves?

The lean and green meal consist of 3 servings of veggies. I measure all my by ounces. You can have almond milk with your cereal just count it as a condiment. You are allowed 3 total per day.

Thanks so much for your helpful videos. I have a question, are diet sodas or flavored sparking waters allowed. My coach said no but I think I saw on one of your videos that 1 diet soda is allowed. And I don't understand why no sparking water?

The diets soda have stuff in it that I think make you crave other stuff. However Coke Zero and Powerade zero is allowed. I would try those as a replacement.

Yes double check the condiment chart but things like Frank’s hot sauce is good as well. You can have 3 condiments.

I would discuss with your coach your lean and greens. Some reasons might be not drinking enough water. Not eating on time. Too many condiments. Or missing your healthy fats. 10lbs first week is amazing! If you are following everything you would see some difference. Again walk it thorough with your coach to be sure.

Can you use almond milk as a healthy fat? My almond milk has 1 g of carb but also a gram of fiber which cancels the carb out… it has 3 g of fat well in that case you would not have a whole 2 cups so that it would equal 5 instead of 6 g of fat?

oh sorry so as a healthy fat you can have 2 cups of almond milk. As a condiment its 1 cup. This is the unsweetened one.

This is some thing I have been desperately trying to find out since I started the program 3 weeks ago… No one has known! I have a hard time eating fats from butters and dressings and stuff like that because it gives me really bad heartburn…

@@erikahall37 if you are eating shrimp you need 2 healthy fats . But if you are eating chicken only 1 healthy fat which equals 2 cups. Any thing in the last meat category no healthy fat count it as a condiment.

This one is tricky because it can be counted as both. As a condiment you can have 1 cup for a serving. As a healthy fat you can have 2 cups for one healthy fat serving hope that makes sense.
