It seems many things are exposed by Stacer. Then one can research what is running, changing things if desired. Yes there are other ways to do these things, but Stacer has them all together. It might help tune virtual machines too. I am happy it can remove snaps. Repository monitoring and control is very nice. The mix of basic and advanced tools in one place make it useful for any machine with a desktop. Thanks for a great video

question why is stacer not part of a linux mint (for example) software package? does it meet the linux standards of not spying on you, gathering information and sending it back? etc. etc.?? love your channel by the way!

Hello , I want to learn web development and which linux distro would you recommend for low end laptop ? Thank you in advance
@Lanzetsu4 жыл бұрын
From a distro perspective check mainly Arch or Debian/Ubuntu based, they are the most solid ones, in my opinion with low resource laptop you should try 1 - Linux Mint (Cinnamon or Mate, you can download Mint based on Ubuntu which is the standard, or the new Debian Based, I recommend the first one) 2 - Manjaro (XFCE environment is the lighter and most friendly or you can go for others native and officially released like Gnome and KDE but if you would be better with KDE if you want something familiar out the box)

"If it's not broken, don't break it"? I guess I have it backwards. I always say: "If it's not broken, fix it till it is." But, I'm that guy who likes to mess with things a lot. That way my mind doesn't get lazy. Ahaha

I'm always suspicious of apps that claim to help "clean" your system, but this isn't _totally_ insane. It's a nice GUI for a few things, but most features in there I find very silly, particularly the duplication of built-in stuff. It's just a general rule to not reinvent the wheel, and this one does. A lot. It using Electron is...very much less than ideal, too. The only thing I can see myself using it for is as a graphical front-end for services and startup apps. But then again I'm very comfy in the terminal and this does seem like a a nice enough tool for people who might be less so. I have a very positive view of such apps because they make Linux more accessible to more people, and that's great! I just want to see Linux succeed and if this helps-out "normies" then that's awesome...even if most of those features it adds really should just be in the distro from the start (if it's aimed at inexperienced users).

Running Debian Buster 10.5 here. Apparently the repo linked in the site is a 404, but if you download the AppImage and run it, it works flawlessly. i.imgur.com/cifiGco.png EDIT: I did try it out on Mint 20 and KDE Neon as well, no issues.
