Linux users see themselves as edgy rebels, but then get mad when game and software developers don't cater to them. You can't have it both ways!

Why say 'old school"?!! It's a bastardization of the English Language. Just say it's an "old" package manager. There is nothing at all about a school in there. You millennials to stop corrupting the English Language. Same for Price "Point" and Use "Case". There is no need to add "Point" or "Case". We spoke perfect English before those moronic terms came to be used.

The menu bar at the top of gnome disk utility (BKA disks) has a drive options menu marked by a vertical row of 3 dots. The top option on that menu says "format disk." doing that and clicking the "format" buttons the popup menu it opens, then the one that opens. will wipe the partition table of the flash drive. Then you simply create your FAT partition with the little + button and you're good to go.
@bobpeters61Ай бұрын
I don't know how you made the bootable flash drive to begin with, but to use "disks" for the job, you select a different option from that same menu to "restore disk image."

I wish I had seen this video two hours ago, it would have saved me tons of pointless configurations that brought me to an empty grub command line on boot 😂 Why the hell they don't mention archinstall on boot screen??? For newbie users like me, you first need to connect to internet via iwctl

First of all, English is not my native language, so I use a translator while doing my best to remain understandable and apologize for any syntax and grammar mistakes. Of course you do your best to offer a video explaining the Windows/Linux dual boot. One more among the hundreds and hundreds of similar ones on the Web. And once again it will only concern Linux aficionados only, that is 5% of PC users worldwide. Because once again its author does NOT put himself in the shoes of an average PC user. Let me help you and tell you what these users want, the 95% globally: 1. Most of these users use a laptop equipped with a SINGLE and unique disk, most of the time where Windows is installed on a GPT disk and a UEFI BIOS. So, for heaven's sake lol, don't talk to them about 20 year old MBR BIOS system! 2. Then, when starting this laptop, they want it to boot STRAIGHT into Windows, not into this fucking GRUB! And this for obvious security reasons in case their wife, children, nieces, nephews, grandfather or grandmother (and why not doggy lol?) do not boot on Linux and come to "accidentally" fiddle with the Disk app or GParted or any other application that would screw up the entire disk until making the ENTIRE laptop unusable... This state of affairs is so obvious that old Linux geeks always seem to hide it huh! 3. Explain to them the proper way (if it exists?) how to partition the disk before OR during installation to ensure that they can boot STRAIGHT on Windows without any other action, OR choose the OS to boot NOT by GRUB but by using an "F" key, F11, F12, F2, F7 depending on the brand of their PC, when starting their laptop (GRUB can still appears for a short while after hitting that key, this isn't an issue). Apparently these fundamental wishes are neither understood nor perceived properly by Linux people who prefer to focus on the color of the icons, the background image or any other bullshit of this kind in their new Linux distributions. Let me summarize simply: Very very very "basic" user, Laptop, 1 GPT disk, UEFI mode, Boot STRAIGHT on Windows OR use an "F" key to choose the OS to boot, DEFINITLY no fucking GRUB (it can still appears for a short while after hitting that key, this isn't an issue)! I repeat here, all this, that is to say 95% of PC users in the world is not understood by the Linux world, it's just too hard for 'em. And even after October 2025 when Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 10, there will NOT be more Linux users, because these 95% will just simply go buy a new PC (a laptop with a single disk lol!). And as long as this mechanism is not understood by Torvalds, Tille, Shuttleworth, Lefebvre (to mention only these and sorry for all the other subsidiaries) well, my goodness, Microsoft still has very long and happy years ahead of it.

Linux still has a) difficult or complicated installation, b) hardware incompatibility, c) inevitability of CLI d) limited software or nerfed software that does not do some of the stuff it does elsewhere, e) too many distros. Kill most of them with fire. f) too many desktops and WMs - kill most of these also with fire, g) terrible package management is the norm (ubuntu is bad, as good as it is but still is better than most distros), h) pre-installed apps are a problem in Windows but have you see how much bloat Ubuntu has? Or even how much bloat other Linuxes have? i) Linux gaming LOL - even with lutris and the like it sucks ass j) Troubleshooting - linux is good for troubleshooting because you will have lots of trouble. I was happily developing apps on Macos, running all kinds of languages, compilers, docker, kubernetes and the like (often with linux inside them) and I was happy. I came to desktop linux and realized I can't even run docker desktop in a straightforward manner on Ubuntu. Linux is a pile of garbage. And it is free if you don't value your time. Spend a little $, get Macos if you're a developer and Windows if you're a gamer, and be happy.

Good to hear the truth for one time's sake. Software compatibilities is mentioned in passing but is actually the major problem. Try to install Maya/Arnold/ Substance Painter/ Photoshop and other Adobe products + the 20-30 most used applications in content digital art on some Linux distros. How many man-months tinkering and relearning are we talking about? It isn’t a one-time problem either. As all these applications are newly-released and updated you are drowning in a losing battle.
