Enjoyed the video. first one I've watched. I did notice you said, "fight or flight" several times. For what it's worth, that old saying omits an option and is backwards in preference. It should be, "Freeze, flight, or fight" - that's how our brains work. Reference: On Combat by Col Dave Grossman.

Awesome! I think looking at stress as a necessary factor towards our growth and development as a species was a fantastic idea. Helps me alter the lens in which I view life's daily stresses

Brian, this was pure gold. Much appreciated for your spartan daily effort. Maternal mitochondria energy lineage (I was trying to explain this since forever for myself but since my mother is a high energy type I just realized it like it is), energy management (I work in sales and 20/80 is the defacto strategy). So much good stuff Also, your goals are insane - 350 daily casts in 2015? Just like in Spartan up - impossible vs. really hard :)
@HeroicBrian9 жыл бұрын
Alexandru Savin Thanks, Alexandru!! And too funny re: the 350 goal/Spartan Up Impossible vs. Really Hard. I was just journaling that yesterday. My real primary goal is reading 250 books and producing 250 PhilosophersNotes PDFs + MP3s. The TVs are kinda gravy and I'm realizing I'm running up against some time constraints to do it all so I might pull back on the TVs!

Great work, Brian! Thanks! I'd like to suggest that you might want to have a look into the Chris Prentiss's books - Zen and the Art of Happiness- or - Be Who You Want, Have What You Want -, if you haven't already.

Happy New Year Brian! One question: What is your view regards of the diet now? Do u still prefer the low carb, high fat diet or did you change your alimentary choices? I am asking you because I suffer from brain fog and low levels of energy and want to try the recommendations from David Perlmutter. Any advices? :)
@HeroicBrian8 жыл бұрын
I'm basically following Perlmutter + Hyman's recs. Never felt better!!

Brian, I offer this is support of your credibility: you might want to review your understanding of the components of the HPA Axis. I hope your HPA Axis takes this in the spirit in which it's offered ... Best, Mark
@HeroicBrian9 жыл бұрын
Mark Brady heheh. I agree! My current understanding of the power of the HPA axis is wonderfully shallow. Will be fun to go for a deeper dive! High fives to you and your HPA axis from me and mine! :)

***** Basically, how I think about it is - most religions, many self-improvement seminars, every self-help book I've ever read - all seem to have ONE primary objective - to offer up ways for us to stop letting our adrenals (glands) make us their bitch! My world is rarely optimized when I let my adrenals be the boss of me.
@HeroicBrian9 жыл бұрын
Mark Brady Laughing. Nice. And, please do let me know where I was errant in my (obviously) simplistic description of the HPA axis!
@doctormarkbrady9 жыл бұрын
H= Hypothalamic rather than Hippocampal What's tricky about this stuff is where the adrenals are concerned, they treat virtually ALL evaluations (even good ones) as ... threats. All you have to do is think back to middle school and remember how it felt the first time you were the victim of a surprise pop quiz. Correcting public presenters is ... an evaluation. So, I congratulate you on being the boss of your own adrenals.
@HeroicBrian9 жыл бұрын
Mark Brady Laughing at myself. Did I say "Hippocampal"? Too funny. After I shot that one I kinda laughed to myself for stuttering over it but didn't realize I missed it that badly. Thanks for the correction!! One of the reasons I'm doing this many videos is to train myself to be comfortable with mistakes. I got that memo from my adrenals. :)Thanks again and high fives!
