This may be an old upload but was the best video I have ever seen on a series of car detailing products by the manufacturer (Optimum Car Care). Honest, Direct, and Professional! Nice work on being a part of such a memorable subscriber event Obsessed Garage.

That wipe-off at 10:20 looks extremely easy, never had that with any other polish/compound before...

Just when I think I won’t run across any more intriguing detail videos, I stumble upon a whole freakin series! Thank you very much for this info! I’m taking in way too much info 🤯. I love his thought process behind why they’ve done this or that 🤓. I need more time ⏰😎

I would have liked to have seen the results with a scangrip type of light. I'm sure his lighting was great but not much can beat something like a scangrip up close to really see the work needed or correction being done.

Any good explanation for how you can go from compound to polish without wiping? How does the old compound not interfere with the finishing step?
@patricktuggles48155 жыл бұрын
doodlebroSH all of optimums products work together

Most of the abrasives remain in the pad according to Optimum. They are then washed away in the pad washer, or not an issue of the pad is changed.

This is really great info. Do you recommend taking their training class? I'm really liking your channel. You don't waste my time. This is critical for me, as I have a real since of urgency in every thing that I do. I'm not getting any younger, and I feel that I might be running out of time. I'm in the process of starting a mobile detailing business out of my Prius. This is my 3rd start up. I've failed twice, it's not going to happen again. I have no plan B. I have a lot of respect for you. Best, Matt

I just noticed all the sample hoods are silver or grey. Wonder why no Black or dark colors?
@ObsessedGarage7 жыл бұрын
They normally get darker, but that's what Mac was able to get from the junk yard that fit the bill. You want them messed up, but not unusable.

Their class should be free if you consider the success of their product hinges on retraining the end user... These videos will go a long way in that direction.

It's one of the best value 2 day detailing classes in the country. $1500 includes two days of hotel, all your meals, and a $500 product credit. You also earn the right to become an installer for their Pro-level coatings if you meet the business insurance requirements.

Some great info. What are your thoughts on 1 step polishing for a daily driver?
@ObsessedGarage7 жыл бұрын
That can certainly work. I just depends on how scratched and how dialed in you want it to look.

I love OPT but let's see some close up under the lights pictures of the clear coat please. As somebody mentioned why are all the test panels silver/grey - should be black to show proper before and after. Nice video though and I enjoyed them all

Mac talked about his disappointment when he went to the junk yard to get some hoods. They normally get black or dark blue.

It's still very much worth being there in person. You will have the opportunity to test the products you want to test. You would also be eligible to be an Opti-Coat Pro and Pro+ installer.

For RIDS in the paint would you use foam backed paper or regular paper to leave the surrounding orange peel? Tried to ask jason killmer on another video you made with him? Any info would be great
@ObsessedGarage6 жыл бұрын
I guess it depends on the scratch and how much of it you can safely remove. I would err on the side of 3000 grit with the backing.

I really like using the old school Buff and Shine pads, because they don't have a hole in the middle. I have Red for ultra finishing, Black for GPS, Blue for polishing, and Green for cutting.

Optimum Hyper Wool Pad the best pad
@tacticalh7 жыл бұрын
How do you like the intensive polish after learning about and using the product and would you recomend it as a good one step, does it compare to sonax perfect finish? Also love the videos and channel!
@danlc952 жыл бұрын
It's not going to finish down like PF. Hyper Polish is closer to PF. Hyper Polish is also known to finish out nice on soft paints too. You can alter it's cut by changing the pad. Intensive Polish will sometimes leave pretty serious D.A. haze. For instance, if I use it with the orange Optimun waffle pad it can leave a LOT of haze that Hyper Polish struggles to remove. I have had luck using Intensive Polish with their black waffle pad, and green Buff and Shine pads. I've only been working with it for about a year half heartedly. My go to abrasives are all by 3D. ACA500 for heavy cut, 3D ONE for moderate cutting/polishing/finishing, and AAT502 for ultra finishing.
