what if refraction would be like -2.5/-1.5x160. How would we know about the type of astigmatism on optical cross? I saw many patients have different axis apart from perpendicular to each other please respond

Yesterday, during my internship, I observed an optometrist who relied solely on the autorefractometer's prescription and neglected the duochrome test and the Jackson cross cylinder. Dr., based on your personal knowledge and experience, which method do you prefer for determining the axis of the cylinder? Thank you 🌹

You can take a idea of power and axis from autoref but you should not blindly rely on just autoref readings.. go for manual methods after getting autoref readings, for confirmation and verifications.

@@optometrywithkhurram6867 Dr what manuel method u use in determining the value of astigmatism and the axis ? For me i used to like clock dial but unfortunately in new charts clock dial is not available 😔 even fan & block 😔 thank you🌹

@@optometrywithkhurram6867 According to my understanding we can also incorporate other gadgets to verify the real axis of the astigmatism like corneal topography which can give you better idea about the axis of the astigmatism
