I think the difference between a bass solo and a guitar solo is that guitar can exist in a simple pentatonic shape and still entertain and hold merit as a "good" solo. Where as a bass solo tends to be more cerebral and incorporate a lot more thought and knowledge of music theory to keep the listener interested. I don't know, it's just what I've noticed from listening and playing as both a guitarist and bassist.

popopopopop I'm not even a solid guitar player, yet I can pull a pleasant sounding guitar solo out of my ass. All depends of genres of the music too. Bass is far more complex to sound appealing to a general audience. just IMO!

There's plenty of shitty bass solos and complicated and cerebral guitar solos on the other sides of the spectrum. Besides, what's wrong with having a simple solo? Having tone clusters, extended chords or whatever advance techniques you use doesn't automatically make a solo good or not.

Both are great, the problem is that you can impress a lot of people adding distortion to your guitar, but you can't impress anybody with a bass if you can't do something with more than a pentatonic minor scale.

There's no capo. It's a fret wrap. It helps mute the strings you don't want to ring out.
