The last build of Alpha brought about some Disc updates to Rapture that could be very helpful for Mythic+ and some substantial updates to Oracle Priest. In this video we dive into the controversial Hero talent and if it will be any better going into The War Within!

Really don't like cycling abilities. Would've preferred us having charges of premonition giving a buff based upon the next skill used. E.g. premonition-->radiance-> receive buff xx / premonition-->penance-->receive buff yy

This rapture update feels so .... whatever. The issue with it at the moment is in 5man content, the GCDs needed to slowly cover folks is just a deal breaker. This change didn't affect that at all. In raids, the shield bump still means you have to do one by one targeting, but now you fill a few spots with just simple Renew. You lose overall shields, which have increased Atonement duration, which is really why Rapture is used in the first place. Kinda wish they would have just re-designed Rapture in some way, to make applying Shields faster, and not take 10 seconds worth of setup.

I would have liked Oracle to have a monk stagger like buff that delays X% of damage over Y seconds. The buff would be applied by atonement and PoM/renew etc. This would fit into the "seeing the future" vibe they are going for and also making up for Holy's weakness of no dmg mitigation.

I honestly don't see any of these "positives" about Oracle as actual positives. They're just not completely terrible, only mostly terrible.

Totally agree with you. For the 1% Oracle would probably be top for raid (1min Evang possibilities?). But regular gamers such as myself, I would be more stressed and have less fun with Oracle compared to Voidweaver (cannot top those animations from Voidweaver). Also, 1.5min for 6 shields feels horrible in raid in a 20man setting.

I just wish they'd let us keep 100% uptime on Atonement in one spell. Losing the tier set bonus that extended it sucked. Still make it a buff you need to apply with Radiance every ~15 seconds, but make the cooldown/recharge 15 seconds so we can maintain it in 5 man content. Having to work harder than my other healers is just frustrating for no gain. I'd be playing Disc as my main if that one change was made.

Yeah, agree, i've been trying to get into disc several times, but the atonement application feels so clunky. There is a pvp talent that inceases atonement duration, at least make that baseline.

Isn't it a good thing that Oracle in particular is very min-max and harder to play? That way both Holy and Disc get an easier spec to play and a harder one to choose from. In my opinion it's the best of both worlds really.

They're still missing mark on Oracle. None of the talents evoke a feeling of "peering into the future to protect allies" aside from the names of the talents. Premonition could be applied to any healer spec (not to mention "premonition" happens passively, "divination" is actively looking). Idk, man. I was so excited for Oracle which I thought would be Holy/Shadow (since the whole future sight fits much more with shadow than holy/disc) and Archon should have been disc/holy. It feels like they butchered one of my favorite rpg archetypes for a half-baked hero spec with some of the most boring talent choices. The only solace I can take is that ur no longer having to play a casino game while also looking for the right ally to cast it on while *also* managing healthbars

Agree makes sense.. But i stil like this over void weaver.. I wanted a holy light damage > heal build.. I dont like shadow being forced into healing as they designed it. I have no choice and its not satisfying to me

@@Sticklemako how I had thought it could have been implemented with Holy/Shadow would be bringing back more off spec passive healing like shadow used to do (ie VT heals allies that damage target) or if they brought back some form of Unholy Nova that had been reflavored into an explosion of time energy that heals allies and damages foes while also benefitting Shadow and Holy masteries. The DoT counts as a DoT for shadow weaving and Echo of Light would damage enemies over time.

I must say that the extra instant Radiance after premonition might not be that bad in a Shadowfiend window. With how long you can extent that CD at the moment it might be worth instantly using it on CD while the fiend is still up. After that you'll likely need 30sec to reset the Shadowfiend anyways. On top of that Voidwaver feels more like the minderbender buddy. Great vid as always

As a Holy Priest (relatively simple spec and I love it that way) I wouldnt mind the 'extra work' that oracle is bringing. As is ... I'll give both oracle and Archon a shot. I would love both specs to be balanced enough so it can be just a gameplay style choice rather than performance driven as usuall.

Oracle seems to be going with the current arcane mage rotation which is hard to master but better payout which like you said some may like. I am still in the void / archon camp but oracle is going in the right direction.

I like the rapture change, it always felt like it was a mana dump in m+ and in raid it felt okay but usually was just to assist in ramping, also a mana dump

But in M+, you aren't really allowed a bunch of 1 by 1 mild strength healing GCDs, especially not to heal a party up. You need to generally heal the group immediately, and Rapture still doesn't do any of that. They should look to have it apply more Shields per global, the reason it sucks right now in 5man content

I feel like Clairvoyance talent almost makes the CDR talent a must. Because in raids that either means pre-casting Preminition, which is fine, to start the rotation, then 3 mins later you get the big buff. If you dont do that itll be 4mins into the fight before you get the big buff which im not sure if having all 3 buffs is strong enough to just be used once for most raid fights

I hope thatBeta will be useful to better balance the disc in pvp too, because these nerfs seem to lead to the usual combination disc+ void weaver fun BUT trash for pvp --- and --- holy + oracle boring BUT op for pvp. disc always the most fun but in high rated pvp scenarios it lacks of healing with atonement, hope the voidweaver spec will have a better atonement in pvp arenas,Great video as always.

This is why I play Holy. People take damage, I use spells to heal. My old-man peon brain can't handle all these ramps. Tracking yet another thing sounds terrible.

Is the healing drop off for abilities like Divine Hymn gradual or immediate? Meaning does it do X amount of healing for 5 or less and Y amount of healing for 6+, or does the drop off happen gradually as you add more players? If it’s the latter, I wonder if this could lead to weird strats in high end raid teams where you position the team in such a way during high damage so that the people who can self sustain are outside the range of healing CDs

Sad I was hoping holy priest get some love and attention but what did I expect .. tbh if it was just visually pleasing I wouldn't mind playing it even if its an F- but there is no new animations aside from halos going back and forth. Very disappointing :/

To your point, one of Holy's biggest criticism through Dragonflight was that it was the "new-to-healer" spec. So playing well on Holy always had the suffix of, "Oh, well they're the easiest healer, so it couldn't have been that hard for you." So premonition kinda takes Holy and elevates it to a spec that may garner some more respect. Odd thing, but I ran into it a bit as a Holy main. On the opposite side you're taking premonition and applying it to Disc which is arguably one of the hardest healers to play, especially in raid. So I have no doubt that we'll see more Disc players go Voidweaver for that very reason. Premonition isn't exactly adding as much to the Disc fantasy as Voidweaver does, and maybe I'm okay with that. Oracle sort of unlocks, even if just by namesake, the Velen fantasy of Holy priest. And since I've generally always been a male Draenei Holy Priest player, it's something I'm more excited about than just, shooting halos out and aggroing the entire dungeon.

i feel like disco needs a big CD like Holy word:salvation to set like a 20 Man atonements for a short duration to burst heal the raid because in most cases where u dont have Evangelism up with a stack of radiance at least it feels like disco can't do much compared to holy which can heal in every situation perfectly

As a hpriest main im still just like. I think archon is better in raid because of pretty huge pulsing raidheal with halo plus increased healing for people hit by it? And m+ because i dont really see where oracle helps damage or significaly increases healing. But i havent played it yet idk. Oracle just... seems so underwhelming. That being said I'd still learn both lolol. Cool they're bringing raid cds for m+ back.

Regarding voidweaver, does the collapsing star thing still proc atonements for every single mob that is hit? Not just a single one in the same fashion as any of Disc's aoe abilities like halo/divine star/ holy nova?

@Pokerit yes I know, automaticjak specifically in a previous video made mention that the collapsing star converted the aoe hits into healing based on n targets not on a single target hit. That was what I was specifically referencing, albeit that was within the first couple weeks of alpha testing and voidweaver announcement and testing.

what about the dps part of it in an m+ envoirnment. I don’t see any buffs to dmg in the Oracle tree? IF oracle provides more hps and survivability, and that is what is needed in a key run, then I guess you would take that. This is a completely different talk, but I hope there will be more time where I have to heal in dungeons than dps. Doing (around 17s) keys I still feel like I’m pumping dps almost the entire time. I love the moments where I have to heal, but if war within m+ is like DF, I feel like I will always run the dungeons with the hero talent that gives most dps.

Ugh disc is dead for me now.. first off playing wow for 15 yrs, I've watched healers go from healing only, to now DPS-to-heal, since when was it cool to go from solely healing to being a dps? If I want to dps I'll play a dps class lol, should be kept separately and no overlap. With that being said, as cool as voidweaver is, I refuse to do dps to heal so I'm left with oracle, which is diesnged so poorly. To be honest I was hoping the devs would bring back spirit shell, turn oracle disc into a ramping/shield building class, that would be so unique in its own, and so cool to be a barrier type of healer.

There’s so much downtime in all content that requires 0 healing, so I guess you just like to stand around and do nothing instead of help dps? Especially on mythic plus, all dps helps. Standing still doing nothing because everyone is topped off is a waste of a party member slot, also just overhealing is a waste as well. So I guess tanks should just be huge shields and deal 0 damage? Lol
