King Cobras are actually among the smartest reptiles on the planet. They're smarter than some mammals. So I'm not surprised it was mellow and tolerant of being handled by a human it is familiar with. Actually he is very intelligent. One of the most intelligent people alive on the topic of snakes. Hes smart enough to predict behavior and wouldn't handle a snake that doesnt want handled. Research more about venomous snakes too. Many snakes don't inject venom first bite. I've witnessed multiple people bit by copperheads and cottonmouths without ever getting venom from it. The snake is more afraid of you then you are of it. They would much rather get away from you than try to bite you and risk you trying to harm it.

@chastityvillaverde44285 жыл бұрын
Steve Sheppard totally understandable but I’ve honestly never heard of removing the venomous sacks cause venomous keepers normally “milk” their snakes for venom and send it off to labs for testing and also keeps the snakes venom sacks not so full so if it did bite it wouldn’t release as much venom, but that’s not true if u check out Chandlers Wildlife he handles his 14ft cobra, anyways my point is people jump to conclusions bashing people when they have no knowledge or history of wok get with these animals u know but anyways check out chandlers wildlife and let me know what u think he is very experienced and knowledgeable about these venomous species, people get bit cause they don’t pay it it’s respect it deserves, most bites happen from non experienced people trying to kill them or capture them to be killed, these snakes are just as important as any other predator or prey on this earth same as u and me we all have a role for this earth

Using that bp as a "prop" was such a shit thing to do, and then saying some bull like 'if he bites it you buy it!' Snakes are so much more than just items you buy, they're living, breathing animals and should be treated as such. Also that ball python is in fact alive... You can see the snake flick it's tongue when he picks it up the second time.
@fishbones18856 жыл бұрын
Dee Dish I'm not saying him feeding the ball python to the cobra was bad what I was saying was that him using the Python as a prop was a bad move. I said absolutely nothing about actually feeding the Ball Python to the Cobra, or even what the Cobra ate, as a matter of fact. Perhaps you should've read my comment a bit closer and you would have realized this.

Something tells me this dude doesn't have a starter dose of antivenom to bring to the hospital with him, an EpiPen in case of an allergic reaction, nor a toxicity expert on call who the ER physician (who surely has never dealt with a king cobra bite) can consult when it comes to actually dealing with the bite and its symptoms. I'm all for the expansion of the venomous hobby, and I know that this snake seems relatively docile, but it's still an unpredictable wild animal. One of my (non-venomous) snakes bit me for the first time a couple weeks ago. I've had him for years, and he's always been very shy and docile. Putting a ball python next to it and getting it into feeding mode is beyond idiotic.

All I can see here is a young man who is convinced that HE won't die. That every time he takes this gamble, his luck will hold. And this animal will kill him, and likely pay for it with its life, to the detriment of the entire herpetoculture hobby. I'll not convince him, or anyone else, of this, but it couldn't be more clear in this video. This animal will kill him one day. Not because it's vicious, not because it's aggressive, but simply because any animal with teeth can bite, and have a bad day, and this man takes liberties with it which are not justifiable. Because this snake is not a ball python. Its temperament is clearly not entirely docile or tame. (And people are bitten by ball pythons every day). This man is addicted to adrenalin and likely feels he's won a battle and conquered the world every time he doesn't die. He's not ignorant of his danger -- only of the inevitability of his losing this gamble. I could be wrong. Suicide may in fact be his plan. This could be Russian roulette. But either way, this is certainly not to be admired. I hope he grows up and realizes life is worth living, and best practices for handling hots becomes a priority, but I fear this will not end until it ends badly.
@derekblackford94156 жыл бұрын
Donna Fernstrom this takes me to one point. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. I love snakes, especially venomous. In my younger days I pulled cowboy stunts holding and touching animals for no other reason than to get the rush of doing it. I'm much much older, and wiser now. Hopefully this young man will survive his youth and see the error in his ways. I'm grateful I did.

I'm glad to find a comment that brings up a truly important and valid criticism. Contrary to all the "bambi effect" / unscientific anthropomorphisation -related delusions aimed against/in favor of the handler for both the perceived risk the ball python was exposed to and the alleged tameness/ "obedience" of the king cobra, you point out the true loss this type of venomous reptile keeping/handling will inevitably lead to: the loss of credibility of NORMAL exotic animal keepers, which usually goes hand in hand with government-imposed bans and restrictions and generally with an undeservedly bad press for the innocent rest of us... Having glimpsed in other of this channel's videos, it is clear that the handler has some derangements - including death-wish perhaps. Anyhow, neither keeping nor handling (i. e. maintainance of) venomous reptiles necessitates this type of cuddling and risk-taking. It surely makes these people look "special" and "competent", as if the fingernails and the hairdo weren't a dead giveaway of this man's exceptional "talent" in snake whispering, yet it will only mislead young inexperienced and impressionable audience and further alienate opponents of exotic pet keeping. Steve Irwin is (was) a fitting example... shouting DANGER, DANGER, DANGER, trying to interact with animals at all costs, flipping them upside-down, touching them, holding them. Or the polar opposites: mouthkissing and cuddling deadly venomous reptiles with an unworldly facial expression of the lotus-eaters... because potentially deadly dangerous animals are so cute and they need to be loved in a human way... This here video: decadence and derangement meets anthropomorphisation + bambi effect... = self absorbed pseudo intellectual grandiosity with a skewed subjective reality. And thanks to youtube it propagates itself. Problem is: being spared by mere luck from the real-world consequences up until that very mistake that will cost him his life gives him plenty of opportunity to promote this reckless behaviour. And this video is categorized as "education" by the uploader... Sadly, explaining this to people like the young man in the video and his fan base is like throwing peas against the wall... The world needs more people like David Attenborough and Gerald Durrell; as for the snake world: guys like in the Venom Interviews!

yea but your basing venomous handling on fear. it is like a pit bull if I do not think it will bite then they know and behave so they can not be harmed. I do venmous handling not a king cobra but still I understand kindof the idea of a good handle the snake did not want to bite nor do i think it has venom.
@The_Superpack7 жыл бұрын
No viperkeeper is afraid because on early on bites supposedly. I may not have as much venom experience but the idea of a pit bull or a big snake is similar, if you are afraid and they do not understand they bite, and i have way more experience with exotic animals then either one. If you know the snake and are doing something for it they are fine. Just like most animals.

Not to mention, other individuals that are into keeping venomous snakes say to “never” feed a venomous snake by hand because of the feeding response by the snake and that it could accidentally bite the handler. I understand that the snake wasn’t being fed at that time but it is completely ignorant and irresponsible to taunt a king cobra with its next meal.
