Hi Dean. Thanks for the comments. Maybe we were not exactly explicit enough and with so much to cover we did not make this point clear. Sorry about that. The brush in our opinion cleans very well, this applies to all Oral-B Pro, Genius and Smart Series toothbrushes. We would have mentioned if something specifically wrong with it. You will get a very clean feeling when using the brush. A variety of brush heads can have different benefits but on the whole all will scrub the teeth and gums well.

Electric Teeth It's an all around good toothbrush and works as intended. However the bad side of it is the battery. It's been 5+ hours on charge on the included toothbrush and heads stand plugged into a 240v socket in my bathroom and still only on the second bar of the battery. The toothbrush itself also does run out of power quickly but then again i do brush for around 4 mins average each time twice a day.

Glad all is working as intended. The battery does charge quite slowly, but this is what allows it to remain constantly on charge and does not 'have' to be taken off the charger. Brushing for as long as you do, twice a day is bound to have an impact. You may want to seriously consider reducing the amount of time you brush for. Brushing for a total of 8 minutes a day is high and spending so much time cleaning your teeth could in the long term do more damage than good. Always worth consulting with your dentist, but the guideline is really the 2 minute mark. You must have lovely teeth?! :-)

It doesn't 'bleep', but there is a change in the sound of the brush (because the brush heads stop moving for a fraction of a second) and you also feel the difference in brushing sensation, so you know when to change. If using the app, it will show you too.

Hi, I just received this model of Oral B electrical toothbrush. Would u recommend putting it back on the charger after every use? Or Should I only charge after depleting the battery entirely? I am thinking of preserving the battery longevity here.

There are different opinions on what is the 'best' thing to do. My general view, is worrying too much about this or following a precise approach isn't worth the effort in the long term. However, that said, I would generally not put it on the charger after every use, even though you are not supposed to be able to overcharge this brush. I would not suggest depleting it entirely every time either. I would suggest letting the battery run down to 10-20% power (as the icon begins to flash red) and then charge it is the better approach.

This brush is now available at £99 but you can get the top line Philips sonicare diamond clean for £79 down from £260. Whilst none of these brushes are worth the RRP, the current prices are very good. Which one would you say is better the Philips or the Oral b

+Benjimikey wow tricky. We do not have a favourite. Both are excellent really. We like Philips for the battery life and its a bit quieter, but the Oral-B in our opinion feels like it's cleaned better and you are left with a more dentist like clean but we have no evidence to support this.

Hi Melissa. Th Pro 3000 does not have a whitening mode so its not 'ideal' for whitening teeth. You should consider the Oral-B Smart-Series 4000 3D White as this has a whitening mode and use with a good toothpaste like Nu Skins's AP24 or Oral-B's 3D White Luxe Perfection & Whitening Accelerator.

I'm thinking to buy this brush... I saw Philips they detect the all teeth you have. Even shows if you missed some teeth. So this one shows as well?

Maria, I am not aware of any brush detecting your teeth as such! Both Oral-B and Sonicare have 'Smart' toothbrushes that have smartphone apps that will monitor how well you brush. Through the app it will show where you could spend more time brushing and where improvement is needed. The brush/app detects if you did not brush, or did not brush very well a particular part of the the mouth, such as the back teeth. This Genius 9000 has this feature.

Whilst technically the Genius 9000 is newer and more powerful, if your 5000 is still working there is no point upgrading in my opinion. The possible benefit is slight and very difficult to actually notice in most cases.

Is there an oral b that has cleaning mode, gum care, sensitive and maybe whitening, but is not a smart brush or if it does, the cheapest in that range that has these modes? Don’t want to pay for smart when I don’t want to use it. Thanks.

Hi Elizabeth. The first brush in the Oral-B range to offer all of these modes would be the Oral-B Smart 5 5000. As the name implies it is Smart. There is no brush without Smart features that offers these modes. You don't have to use them of course, but you are arguably perhaps paying a fraction more. The question might well be, do you need these cleaning modes?

Looking at getting this I have the 2000 at moment but I have realy sensative teeth and I after use the gum care setting and still fine that to much my teeth hurt after even using sensative tooth brush head is the sensative mode slower and not as powerful as the gum care could you please help me on this thanks

Jamie. The Sensitive mode is different to the gum care mode but not enough that I think you would notice the difference or benefit from it. Therefore I would not recommend the upgrade for this reason. Have you had the cause of the sensitivity in your teeth diagnosed?

No, it does not. You have to have the power cable plugged in to charge the brush. There is no battery in the case to replenish the toothbrush inside.

+Bjørn Gammelgaard the brush heads should be changed every 3 months. They would last longer in theory but it is not advised for hygiene reasons and becuase at this point the clean offered by the bristles may not be as effective and may do more damage than good.

The brushing motion is the same. The number of movements from the brush head on the Genius brush is more than the Pro range, but not enough to make a significant noticeable difference in our opinion.

I'm just viewing this because I have this model and I am trying to advise my wife on which current (December 2023) model to buy. In essence I agree with everything that you've said; I didn't buy it because it had bluetooth I bought it for the various cleaning modes; do I use them? No in fact I get annoyed when I accidently hit the mode selector button and then have to cycle back tto the everyday mode. My mobile phone is not welded to my ear, in fact it's annoying when I need to find my phone for two factor authenitcation when I'm on my computer so the idea of taking into the bathroom is as far from my mind as the moon. I was quite happy with the little clock of the previous model that tracked the 4 quarters and beeped every 30secs but it won't pair with this model I'm sort of glad that I didn't throw away the travel case even though I haven't used it in the years I had it (2019) because it's too heavy (every little helps for air travel) but as we are going to Canada I thought oh I could use the USB port on the travel case to charge it as their voltage is half of the UK mains voltage - no you can't it's only for charging other USB items (maybe the phone). So I've bought a charging cable that fits into the travel case port and with a two round pin to two flat pin adaptor it will charge from a 110/115/120v supply. Why the heck didn't Braun Oral B make this a univeral voltage model - its price warranted it! So after my rant what advise did I give to my wife for her new model - get one that uses the same brush heads as this model and not the new IO series as within a couple of years you will have spent more on brush heads than the (heavily discounted) Pro 3 3500. You probably won't use more than one brushing mode anyway so KISS keep it simple stupid. Why not get a non electric toothbrush? Because they actually do a lot better job at cleaning my teeth - my dentist told me so! Keep smiling.

Hi Gary. I am assuming you don't have a 2 pin 'shaver' socket in your bathroom. You can purchase a 2 pin to 3 pin adapter, for less than £5 and this will allow you to charge the brush from a standard UK socket. You mention USB, just be aware, you can't charge this toothbrush via a USB cable. The travel case allows you to charge a USB powered device, like a smartphone. However, it will only charge the smartphone, if the provided proprietary 2 pin power adapter is connected to the mains and the travel case itself.

The 9000s comes with 4 brush heads, just like the standard 9000. However the ‘S’ model comes with 2 x Sensitive heads compared to the 1 x Sensitive with the 9000. The S model does not have a 3D White brush head included. All other box contents and features appear to be the same. So the 9000s comes with 2 x Sensitive, 1 x CrossAction and 1 x FlossAction compared to the 1 x Sensitive, 1 x 3D White, 1 x CrossAction and 1 x FlossAction. ‘S’ therefore stands for Sensitive.
