I'm in awe of how I can experience what it must have been like to grow up in the Gracie household through my computer monitor. Coming from a background of dysfunction, I did not get a sense of life, lifestyle or family. At the age of almost 40, I decided to join a local Gracie training facility, am now at my 3rd stripe on my white belt and have lost about 28lbs, and even adapting to the Gracie lifestyle because I feel this is something invaluable I can pass on to my child, something I wasn't given nor my siblings, who were as lost as me. I use these videos along with my regular training to have a better sense of jiu jitsu and the Gracie lifestyle. I regret I should have started a lot younger, but I need something..i have nothing else but the Gracies to look up to.

Nice! And even Rorion did a video of him feeding a baby, I would like more tips from them on raising a child, the diet part basically! :D Good luck, anytime is a good time to start something good in your life, of course young is best most of the time because we think quicker but hey we are all going to get old so we should not just stop but keep going best we can! Be well!

Yes, I deviate from the Gracie method a little by using a juicer. And I usually drink about 12 oranges worth of juice once a week. Breakfast is the best time to do it because that way you can ensure that your evening meal is fully digested. Believe it or not, it really seems to help the urinary system a bit. My wife had bladder problems for years until starting the Gracie diet. Hasn't had an incident since.

There's plenty of pulp ingested eating this way (when you eat frickin' 18 of them) and I'm thinking he doesn't eat the outer part due to it being a group D food, not to be mixed with what comprises everything but the juice and pulp.

Can a person with diabetes eat 18 oranges? That's my main issue with the Gracie Diet, how good is it for ppl with diabetes.
@Maeggoel12 жыл бұрын
Well with only having limited knowledge about the Gracie diet, it actually seems to be perfect for jiujitsu. I'll say you need a lot more protein (as in a A LOT more) and less fat. They hit the carbs pretty good, but they could cut that down too. Why is it good for BJJ? Good fats!!! What is the most common injuries in judo and jiujitsu in the long term? Joint-problems. What fixes it (or helps atleast)? Good fats that can grease the joints and the celle-membranes.

Why don't you eat the orange, instead of sucking the juice? Is the solid part bad for you?
@beginwitheuclid10 жыл бұрын
I believe the reason he does that is because he can get fiber from a lot of other sources. The fiber from the orange isn't bad but if you have fiber from other meals in the day you might not want it from the orange.

Makes sense. Thanks!

maybe he dont like the fiber of the orange, some people are like him. me i eat all of my orange but like the grapefruit i cannot, i eat it slowly and just the inside of it so their last only the white part

According to Tropicana it takes "18 oranges to make 64 oz. (1.893 L) of juice". Rorion has consumed that same amount of product the freshest and most food secure way possible. Using a juicer like the Champion may be more efficient though, but it would have too be tested. It would be interesting to see how long it took Rorion from start to finish to consume these 18 oranges the way he did in the video vs. Rorion putting these oranges through the juicer and drinking the juice.

it contains fibre which fills you up a lot more. he wants juice which takes longer to get you to 80% full which means you get a lot more vitamins from all the juice. he can get his fibre from other meals in the day.

You can eat the pulp (if you need the fiber), they're just believers of the idea that you can fill your stomach with more nutrition by just taking in the juice. I just peel the oranges and juice them for my group D meal. I try to get as much out of the oranges as possible.
@MrAnonymousboxer12 жыл бұрын
Rorion is doing his impression of the "Human Champion Juicer":) 18 oranges seems like a lot, but it takes about that many oranges to make 1L of fresh squeezed no water added orange juice.

Whats the point?
@TheCajunTNPer12 жыл бұрын
Yes but citric acid is not what nutritionists worry about very much. Fresh orange juice contains only 9 grams of citric acid per liter (0.9%) which isnt much. 18 oranges is still far healthier than a single serving of coke which contains enough phosphoric acid to dissolve a steak in 48hrs. Any cola also contains high amounts of dissolved CO2 which is very acidic and requires Calcium from the bones to buffer, and that is the big problem.

At the end of the day im yet to see any food regime that has been practised for as long as the gracie diet has. The effects of the diet are clearly around for everyone to see, helio and carlos gracie lived well into their nineties, perfectly healthy, still doing the jui-jitsu and could look after themselves. say what you want but its all just speculation at the end.

It all goes back to their diet its a great diet in my opinion in terms of living a long life they know what the system does to most of the produce, meats & drinks this country consumes so therefore restrict their diet to raw organic content which is phenomenal people should be more educated... & Yes I know I went off topic just it does reffer to your question. Pardon -Kind Regards-
