Holy shit, this was a good video. I didn't realize how emotional the scene where the mute woman tears up Red's name card was until this.

I truly love this video and I am using it for a fanvid analysis in my Fandom class. You have truly captured the angst, distress, and misery these women in the show, and potentially in real life, that these women go through. This is something different that when pieced together makes a big statement. Great work!

The best line in this video is the one about personal accountability for one own choices and misdeeds. It's a line all women, no matter who they are, need to hear everyday.

+Alrune La Brune: What about Maddening Rod from Camelorum Adventures? She woke up with no memory, no clue about anything except her own name, all records to identify her having been erased from public record, alone, in the rain, wandered into town, and found her mere presence warped the very fabric of reality around her - with no explanation and almost zero ability for her to control it. The town responded by throwing her into Camelorum "Correctional." No lawyer, no trial, no clear charge. Just bam! She's in there "for being a glitch in the universe." Because the more she stays inside there, for some unknown reason, the less weird stuff happens that can be attributed to her. What's her level of personal accountability? (She turns out to be some failed alien science experiment, on par with Ginormica from Dreamworks' Monsters vs. Aliens.) She's basically an SCP in everything but name.
@alrune89 жыл бұрын
Dozerfleet Studios No thanks. Stories that thrive on depicting women as the poor defenseless victims of society don't interest me. True emancipation comes from accepting responsibility for oneself in any and all capacity, making things happen instead of having things happen to you and standing up tall against whatever life may throw at you. Not from manipulating others into coddling you like a baby and catering to your feelings.
@DozerfleetProd9 жыл бұрын
Alrune La Brune : Carly may have been made poor, though she was hardly defenseless. She didn't want to use her method of defenses, because she had no control at first and didn't want to encourage anyone to see her as a monster. Honesty comes when you know what you can hold yourself accountable for, and when blaming yourself is absurd, and accepting each for what it is. In the same story, Candace "Lemon Witch" Mason realizes she'll never learn her true destiny unless she goes along with being taken. She could argue the mall cop being turned into a lime was Xiboruty's fault and not hers, since she didn't know at the time that the secret to controlling her powers was to wear yellow gloves. (He never told her, because he liked turning his victims into tools of spreading chaos.) Yet, she knows after learning the truth of controlling it that she'll never be able to make the real criminal pay, unless she learns how to fight back competently. Therefore, she accepts her sentence and views Camelorum as a training ground, where she'll learn how to be Lemon Witch properly - and use it to fight back against the evil that created her. An almost literal case of turning lemons into lemonade. She doesn't hold herself responsible for what happened to her, but she does see it as an opportunity. She was metaphorically raped, yet the "rapist" foolishly gave her the tools to exact revenge - and prevent future victims from happening. It takes her no time at all to see herself as having a typical superhero origin story. So she decides to play that angle for all it's worth. Also in that same story, there's Emily. The car crash wasn't her fault. Getting hit in the face with an alien energy beam wasn't her fault. The only thing she did that was her fault, was running away. She fully accepts that. If she didn't run away, there'd be no case against her. She ran, making her a fugitive. So she feels she deserves something for that. Jenny Kay did nothing wrong. She was merely a passenger on that car that hit the fountain. But Jenny Jane got a more direct blast from the knowledge-imbuing Xomian wave. Being sent to Camelorum meant the two of them could learn each other's imbued secrets, and become better-equipped to stop future alien invasions. Jenny Jane admits she deserves the DUI sentence, even if 3 years seems excessive. Jenny Kay merely plays along, because she sees it as an opportunity to learn from a genius. (And because everyone thinks she's crazy anyway.) If anyone was a poor, defenseless victim, it was Barry Navoz. However, he too realizes that the act of God that happened to him that made him look bad was intended to lead him somewhere. If he doesn't play along, he'll never know what that something is that he was meant to find. Fast-forward, and Xiboruty attacks him. He survives, and becomes Ion Boy. Camelorum Adventures is all about finding good opportunities in bad (and stupidly unfair) situations, including seemingly impossible ones. Maybe that's not your genre cup of tea. But there is a place for it.

Although it is a black comedy/drama, there's nothing funny about being in prison.
@genesisvillarreal17479 жыл бұрын
I think it is a great alternative take on the show. Yes it is a comedy, but being in prison is generally not a comedy in real life. This video shows the pain and distress these women are going through that often gets overlooked because of the comedic aspects.
