Never seen a single episode of this show, but I was on a Mulgrew mission and this popped up in my search and I was blown away by the power of the scene, and though her lines were limited to "I'm sorry", she commanded a great presence in the shot and conveyed all the meaning necessary. This whole scene…. The symbolism of the Red’s hair slowly changing to grey, showing how Red is slowly disappearing as dementia takes over. And her last bit of cognitive thinking was of Nicky being someone she trusts. And Nicky standing there listening intently like a daughter. Then Nicky realizing she is losing the only mother she ever had. This scene hurts so much.
@JusticeFortheSilenced2 жыл бұрын
OITNB is one of the most brilliant shows in the sense that it makes you see things in a whole new way......It's one thing to hear about the detention and forced deportation of immigrants who have lived here their entire lives and the prison system and it's effect on mental health but when you put a name and a face with it it's a whole other issue. It's one thing to hear about police killing someone by asphyxiation but when it happened to Poussey it was like it happened to a friend. The hardest part was when two young children went up in front of the judge with no counsel or family it's hard to believe it actually happens..... We have to do better!

So this is how the show ends. First they make the spectator bond with the characters and then they flush them all into the toilet. Okay. The show is actually brilliant in this. At the beginning it seems it is one of those dark comedies with occasional harsher moments. In real it is freaking traumatizing, especially when you consider that everything you saw is not unreal or unbelievable. And it is so inconspicuous in the way it hits you hard unexpectedly. One of the few movies where I struggled really hard to keep watching to the very end.
