Today we're trying copper shims on the Orange Pi 5 SBC to see if it drops the CPU temperatures at all.

What distro are you running? Are all of them running the OS directly off the SD card? If you are running the orangepi distro of armbian, you can tell it to install the root partition to a USB (get cheap 32-64GB SanDisk Ultra's for like $9 a pop) and it will put the /boot on the SD and the entire OS on the USB...if the USB is in the USB 3.0 port they read ALOT faster...but I guess if all it does it read/boot one time then there shouldn't be much stress on the SD Also try installing btop (a very nice graphical system monitor like htop but with temps, io, and network and stuff like that) Cool that copper shim definitely helps spread the heat and keeps the tension on the heatpipes pressing much harder to the CPU keeping it cooler Awesome! Keep em coming!!!!

you should make custom cu shims with small tines off the sides for even better cooling - punch them out on a press - copper is soft

I was going to hop in discord and ask how to check the temps on them so thanks for that but idk 🤷🏼‍♂️ i got the blk heat sink on my second one and that one hashes higher so I thought it ran cooler ill have to check it for sure now
