The Orange Tiny Terror took the world by storm in 2006 and has been raising a ruckus ever since. Perfect for small stage, studio, and practice the Tiny Terror was one of the first all tube guitar amplifiers to bring boutique quality tone and durability to the working musician. Combining Class A performance and that infamous Orange tone, the Tiny Terror has become a new standard in modern guitar amplifiers. Simple controls make it easy to dial in the tone you crave and the 15/7 watts switch brings even more versatility to the table for studio use.
Orange Tiny Terror
The Orange Tiny Terror is built around a two stage preamp that delivers almost the same amount of gain as a four stage preamp. At mid gain settings the Tiny Terror is pure vintage rock n roll ala Black Sabbath. Crank the gain some more and get into some more modern rock tones. The clean tone is crisp and clear and the Tone control is extremely usable in all ranges. The addition of one 16 ohm and two 8 ohm outputs means the Tiny Terror can plug into the cabinet of your choice. The 7 watt setting is perfect for lower volume saturation and lead tones, especially when using a sensitive microphone to record. If you havent heard an Orange Tiny Terror, you need to.
Orange Tiny Terror Specifications:
* Class A Operation
* 2-EL84 2-ECC83
* 7 lbs
* 15/7 Watt Operation
* Two Stage Preamp
* Rugged Metal Chassis

@teanakai - If you're looking for pristine jazz or '80's "power ballad" type clean tones the Tiny Terror probably isn't the amp for you. It's a dirty amp...that's what low wattage tube amps do best. For squeaky clean tones you'll do better with something higher wattage, with more clean headroom. Thanks for watching! -PGS Crew

FOR ALL OF YOU WITH QUESTIONS... i have this amp... there's basically no difference volume wise between the 7 watt and 15 watt settings... a very subtle tonal change occurs tho. Yes it is definately loud enough unmiced for band practices and medium gigs, however it works best while mic'd because there is no master volume knob, so if you want it relatively clean, then you need it mic'd to be heard and no there is not any clean headroom over bedroom level. it's a very crunchy amp.

This amp demo got me off my ass and into a shop to try it out. It really nailed the tone on the Stones' Can't you Hear Me Knockin, Zep's Rock and Roll, and Sabbath's Supernaut, so I bought one. I've had it for a month now and I couldn't be happier. Thanks Andy and PGS!

Absolutely right. Power vs the human ear is funny: you have to go 10 times more powerful to get twice the volume. Therefore, to get twice as loud as this little 15 watt amp, you need to go to 150 watts. What these people don't realize is that they are missing the "sound" that goes with more power, not the volume. In which case, you plug it into a bigger cabinet.

I've played the Tiny Terror through a 212 and my 412. I played my Tiny Terror through a single V30 open back cab, and there was a loss in low end. The 212 added some more lows, but not as much as the Orange 412. I'd say if you want more low end, get the 412. They sound incredible

very, for it's size. it's 15 watts, with a swith to go down to 7w. 15w at full stretch is loud enough for a small gig if you use the right speakers

about a year ago, i had a dream where i was in some sort of factory or manufacturing company, and all i saw were massive amounts of these orange colored amps, orange colored cabinets, you name it. it was incredibly loud, even in such a large place because ppl were blasting these things at such high volumes. i remember the tones were brilliant, and i was discouraged when i saw the price tag. when i awoke, i was curious and typed in 'orange colored amps' into google. to my amazement, they exist :3

own one for about two years now, does clean very well at high and low volumes, but the overdrive sounds great at higher volumes. the settings andy uses are really loud in person but they sound identical in person with more bass than the mic picks up or the computer speakers can deliver. The clean sound is great for layering effects. The way the amp cleans up from dirty to clean without any channel switching got me to buy it.

@MemorymanDL He bent the neck of the les paul to get a whammy bar like effect and started switching between the bridge and neck humbucker, maybe he also turned the volume of the neck pickup down to turn the switch into a killswitch. Anyways, the note turned into feedback while switching.

@JazzyDave - Touche! Jokes....yes, it does do some rich, jangly "cleanish" tones (see Strat clip at the end), but with a 15-watt Orange tube head you're not going to get anything close to pristine. Nobody buys an Orange for the clean tone! What this amp does best is dirty rock n roll, so we chose to focus on it's many-splendored range of drive sounds. With a five-minute video you've got to prioritize. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

@Khaddar It's because bedroom players almost always play at low volumes. At low volumes you have to boost the treble and bass to compensate.

ericponsv: Only Jim Root uses them. Mick uses his signature rivera head. And plus Jim uses pedals to get his tone, he doesn't just crank the volume and gain and get the heavy slipknot/stone sour sound from the amp alone. And lastly he doesn't use the tiny terror, he actually uses the Rockerverb 100's.

This will pump out more gain and it will get much louder. You can get this one in a head instead of just a combo, and it is more versitile. The AD5 is a GREAT bedroom amp if you cant stand the sound of a modeling or cheap solid state amp.

Tube amps is where playing guitar gets expensive. There are cheap solutions, but generally the quality rolls off fairly quickly when you start dipping below $400-500 (head only). If budget is a problem there are a couple of low-watt entry level tube amps out there that aren't that bad, but they tend to lack importan features like seperate gain knobs and standby (e.g. the Epiphone Valve Jr).

Not much headroom for clean. I used to run one of these through a 2x12 Mesa cab and it sounded awesome. The clean you heard in the clip is as clean as it gets which is why I no longer have it. This is the only amp I have ever had that still sounded great fully cranked with an overdrive pedal though.

@frontmanmike As a builder of tube amps I can say for a fact that not every tube amp be dialed in to a clean tone. Maybe most, but certainly not all. That said, my best friend just bought one of these and you are right about how well they clean up.

I recorded my tiny terror through a Marshall 1960a 412... sounded huge! I usually run it through a 212 but with the 412 it gets even louder and has alot more bass to it. I'm considering getting a 412 because of how good it sounds through one.

I just bought the Tiny Terror, and it absolutely rips. This is easily loud enough to gig with and get over a loud drummer. I run it through a 4x12 cab. It cuts through the mix more than my 40watt Spider Valve did. My settings are- 15 watts, Vol 5, Tone 6, Gain 9. Got over a full band that plays loud enough to where the neighbors 6 houses down hear us. No joke, this amp is LOUD and sounds very mean. Just get it

generally a low wattage tube amp can overdrive easier sense it wont be loud when turned up. And a 15 watt could be used for clean and to get loud too.

If you use this amp, with a 2x12 cab, and have a decent pedal board set-up, it will kill! Don't let the 15 watts deceive you. Especailly if you use a good boost pedal.

Great! The Tiny Terror is a very nice amp. I own one and it really gives a raw tone. Before yesterday I replaced the tubes and I get a 12AU7 on the first slot of the preamp, it really roles the gain back and gives more headroom to the clean tones, but I am not so happy with that, thought it was something else. I will put the 12AX7 again on the preamp. The amp really sounds nice with my new Tokai LS, also with my older Strat.
@jakestewartmusic

I'd bet it's just the mic positioning. He's got a ribbon mic in front of an Orange cab, and you might be comparing the sound of the mic'ed cab to the sound of your amp in a room. There's going to a be a huge difference in low end because high end is typically dispersed in a more straight direction from the speaker. So if you're standing above your cab, u dont hear all the high end and it sounds bassier. The mic was positioned in front of the speaker for a balanced tone.

I'm going to be putting my tiny terror up for sale. I've been playing it for almost two years with a strat knok off or a squire strat, and through an epiphone 1x12 cab. If you're not going to go all the way with this amp, dont bother. Use a good guitar. Play through an orange 1x12 or any 4x12. Dont cut corners and make damn sure all you like the distortion it gives because there is only one flavor with minimal seasonings. This one trick pony has a mean trick and if you get it youll love it

headroom and volume. 15w=gig 7w=recording. easier power tube breakup, the point is to sound the same actually. and its better to have a quieter amp in the studio for most cases so it will not distort the mic.

@AidenBradley95
@AidenBradley95 13 жыл бұрын
@theSavageHippie Well, the difference is easier to see when actually using the knobs, in a nutshell, it's easier to get that higher gain, more growly sound without pissing many people off with the 7 watt mode because the amp breaks up quicker on the lower wattage setting because there is less of what's called 'Headroom' that's why if you ever see what are known to be good clean amps (Fender Twin Reverb, Blackstar HT-40) they all have higher wattage so they can have more headroom.

it'd be nice to hear the relative volume difference between him speaking and the amp going through the same mic that's recording him talking. it would give you a good idea of what "10" on that amp sounds like relative to his speaking. don't take the cab mic away(sounds great). just add a small clip at the end where you can compare the speaking volume and amp volume both going through the room mic.
