At first I said, "Dang, that thing has awful clean tones." Then he switched to the bridge pickup, and I thought that was better. Then I realized that I own a strat, and am used to that. XD That makes me feel better about my decision.

Great review guys. I have a home recording studio. I am writting guitar based rock songs with sounds somewhere between van halen and gnr tones. I have a pod hd 500x pedal board and i am rumming that straight into a scarlet audio interface and then straight to my mac logic pro studio. My guitars are all double humbuckers (Gibson les Paul, and strat deluxe). I have rolled the distortion right (drive level) right back on the pod. The same on the scarlett interface (the clip lights are not activating at all). The logic pro studio gat levels are 30-40 % under 0DB (normal level). I cant seem to get the quality of guitar tone that I am looking for. I thought i might be better off getting a valve amp just for home studio recording and running my 500hd x through the amp. What would you recomend? I welcome your thoughts and advice everyone.

Out of all, the Dual Terror seems to be the most dynamic as far as range, clean, and crunch. It seems to have a much wider, full bodied sound. I was looking at the new DT25 earlier, but something keeps bringing me back to Orange. Won't be able to afford one until next year, so keep putting out he reviews...

Just finally got orange in at the local music store, im dying to try one ... the dark terror seems to be in the power and price range im looking at...was wondering if it sounds good with a small cab at a low volume or if theyre meant to be cranked to sound good...i already own a 4/12 cab and am looking for a low volume amp for playing at home...will the 4/12 be too loud...would i need to buy a small cab to go with the dark terror, and would i lose some of the quality of sound with a smaller cab?

I think the difference comes out when you run lots of pedals in the front, like 10-15, without true bypass. Also, if you're using amp overdrive, stuff like delay and reverb will sound a wee bit better in the loop, since the overdrive tone will go into the delay, instead of the delay being overdriven. But yeah, I have personally never heard any difference either.

@psychofunksoldier02 There isn't a 5w combo. The Tiny Terror combos are the exact same 15w amp as the regular tiny terror in an enclosure with either a 10" or 12" speaker.

This was a good Orange video to be sure! I like the Dual Terror with the 30w although a Dual Dark Terror possibility you'd never go back hah. The bass terror would be a good plan since you could have the best variety of tones to access. Get a jazz bass lay your tracks jam it out switch it up then perhaps get a jazzbox play some jazz switch it up again plug in your favorite OD/Dist with your solid body axe and you'd shake all night long.

@XcatisX
@XcatisX 12 жыл бұрын
@MultiPowerage A spot in the back of the amp where you can plug in all your pedals. It's so that you can plug your guitar right into the amp with nothing blocking the signal path but I honestly don't hear any difference between that and through the front.

If an amp doesn't have an effects loop, can you run pedals into it?
@GogiRegion
@GogiRegion 7 жыл бұрын
Yes. There will just be a bit more noise from modulation and delay might sound off with distortion. Effects loops are not as old as pedals. This is especially true when you consider that gain effects go before the amp anyways. Things that normally go in the effects loop will sound different when distortion is applied but everything else will sound different, phasers, gain, & wah typically go before, so that would be fine.

These guys are clearly big believers in FX Loops. And I can't imagine why.
@givemeajackson
@givemeajackson 12 жыл бұрын
@XcatisX if you ever used a delay pedal in front of a fully distorted amp you'll know why. the repeats wont get quieter than the guitar signal, they will just get less distorted, and if you're using a looper in front of the amp you cant adjust the volume of the loop, only the amount of gain. and thats why u put those pedals in the fx loop, that way all distortion is done before and your fx dont get distorted (unless you crank the hell out of your amp...)

Yeah you're right. I'm just saying it makes a big difference. Through the smaller cab the Tiny Terror is nothing special, but through a bigger cab it is. In fact I play my Dual Terror through a Naylor solid wood construction open back 4x10 with hand wired speakers and it blows away the tone versus the using the Marshall 4x12
