Nice, I just missed some single coils. I know it is supposed to be an "in your face" rock'n roll little amp, but I really love it's clean tones, specially with singles coils! Just plug a strat, set the gain around 11 o clock, the tone at 12 and crank the volume up and you're there: sparkling tone with some british chime on top and that touch of power tube break up. Add an analog delay and overdrive pedals and you're ready to rock, to blues, to funk and so on.

What I enjoy is that the points made about the Tiny Terror do apply to even the Micro Terror - I've got one of those, and I feel that with pedalboard, and my 7 string guitar with 2 humbuckers, a mod to not lose treble when you turn down the volume, and a coil split, I really could do a gig for almost anything - as long as I don't need a sparkling clean tone, I could use that amp. They're astonishingly versatile and fantastic amplifiers for the money, the entire range.

Excellent and funny video review with some sweet picking as well. Thanks for playing through some different pedals to give a real showcase of the versatility of this combo. I’m the guitar player in a three piece rock band and I use this as my main gigging amp. I have an AC30 half-stack, Egnator Rebel, Hot Rod Deville and Kemper Profiler that all take a back seat to it. I play with several different guitars and lots of pedals and the different tones this little amp can get out of each is like a secret weapon that really changes the game. I recommend this amp to anyone as the bargain of all bargains in the gigging guitarist world. Unless you can find a Matchless at reasonable cost (which you can’t) this little guy has no equal.

That's only the second time I can remember Rob suggesting using the volume on an eq pedal in reverse to act as an instant roll off for single channel amps... Which is how I used to do after hearing him mention it the first time. Since then I've developed the idea... Bought a fender mustang floor... And have several patches set up, using the studio preamp instead of amp modelling, to raise or lower the signal... Straight into a Micro Terror. You can even use the insert to add in an overdrive pedal rather than the shitty one built into the mustang. Works perfectly... Creates an effective Multi channel amp. With effects switching, total cost of about 300 quid. Thanks for the idea Rob!

I have one of these and I don't think this demo really did it justice. I think it's turned up too loud and the tone has too much bass for the les paul which make it sound very muddy and bass like. The settings could have been better but I suppose Rob said that the slightest change in the controls make a big difference which I totally agree with. These are also great little gigging Amps if you mic your amps up. I'd buy another in a heartbeat if I didn't have one already!

Funnily enough my first-ever exposure to Chappers was the video about the Tiny Terror combo he mentions here. I was looking to buy a new amp, and was looking at a Tiny Terror. As it turned out, when I was ready to buy, the combos weren't yet out, so I ended up buying the head and an Orange 1x 12" cab - now the TT is dicontinued, I am highly unlikely to part with the head, at least, even if I get another amp at any point. Great amp, a modern classic.

It's not the amps fault.... the TT has a fabulous EL circuit.. HOWEVER TT's absolutely NEED at least a 2x12 for any bottom end at high levels. Also offers a more rounded and smoother tone... i used one for years with a nice cab and ALWAYS got compliments.. OF course a boost and EQ seriously helps these amps out as far as added tone shaping. It gave me a wonderful, unique voice which everyone who approached me agreed sounded great and LOUD! as far as the fuzz.... that's the thunderclaw pedal slamming the front of the preamp. I would personally never use fuzz with slammed el84's.

I'm with the Captain regarding chorus on distorted tones- not a huge fan of it. However I love the sound of overdriven tones through a rotating speaker (or a leslie-style pedal).
@matzer88469 жыл бұрын
You may criticize the TinyTerror for its drive sound, but ... don't forget it came out a decade ago and was one of the first - if not the first - tiny EL84-heads in a gigbag. It influenced a lot of other takes like the Mesa TA-15 and many more. At the time of its arrival it had a quite shocking and unheard of amount of gain. It did the era correct high gain hard rock & early metal tones .... but ... heavy tones have changed in the last decade: more ultra clean and a less floppy ultra tight high gain is appreciated nowadays! Anyway: stoner rockers might still love it a lot! As most of - if not all - simple tube amps it reacts very different to different speakers and cabinets ... and maybe the 12" 'voice of the world' does not feel too well in this small cabinet at higher volumes. A 2x12" could be the right partner.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the Tiny Terror's sound based off of the Angus Young JCM 800 tone where just by using the dynamics of your playing you could go from clean to dirty. It might seem completely off the wall but that's seems somewhat obvious when you start to dig in when the gain is at half way it has that JCM 800 character.

Daniel Jeffries Thunderclaw fuzziness? The TT (head through larger cab) is actually less fizzy than many larger orange heads imo. Though I have always hated the sound of these combos.... the warm biased el84's totally need a larger cab to round out the tone and get some nice bottom end.

Great review, though I feel Lee should've demo'd the amp with a good ol' Fender strat, because from experience I know that the Orange micro and tiny terrors sound STUPENDOUSLY good with a good ol' strat.
