Hello, Dan! I am worried about the health of that gorgeous tile floor on the entrance level. It has been protected from falling debris for many years because of the soil and plant layer on top of it. Now that it's exposed, my concern is that a great wind storm or a careless construction worker may drop something on it, and tiles may crack. I would strongly suggest that you get a layer of at least 5cm interlocking rigid styrofoam boards from wall to wall, and then cover with sheets of plywood or OSB, with taped seams to minimize tripping hazards, to provide a rigid surface to walk on during the construction and structural reinforcement stage. Some of those materials could then be lifted and reused once the shell is secured and the roof is on. This project is so interesting and it is truly wonderful to see how motivated you are to research and restore the old girl to her former glory! Best wishes to you and your friends and crew as you continue to make headway in preparation for the build!!!

I just realized, in this video, that all the dirt they cleared out of the Chateau….it used to be all the wood from the floors and such. That’s where all that dirt came from, the decomposed wood and bits….I honestly don’t know why that bit of revelation blew my mind, but….this whole adventure of yours, Dan, is absolutely incredible and I feel so blessed that you choose to share this long, hard, dangerous, and costly hobby of yours with all of us. Your doing good. Our place was a ruin, no windows or doors and covered in ivy, it was mistaken for a tree. It is an Engine house, finished, with rooms, now decorating, 5 floors.

Dan! I just returned from my first trip to France... it was amazing, I was with a group of students that are studying French along with parents and teachers. I was lucky enough to have been chosen by my 14 year old grandson. We were there touring for 9 nights 10 days. So many time while on the bus I spoke about you and wondered if I was close to you house or the Château, we past a Brickco store and I to him that is where Dan gets his supplies. Every time we drove past a little village I wonder if you house was in there because they looked so much like what I see here! I am no sitting down to catch up on all of the episodes that I missed. What a beautiful place to live and that you for sharing all of this, this is truly my favorite channel on you tube and you are such a hard worker and inspiration to all of us! ❤️❤️❤️
