Anyone saying the trees shouldn’t be removed hasn’t dealt with a property that’s been neglected for years. I’m dealing with it on a much smaller scale, but it’s so much work to undo years of damage to the health of the mature trees and choose which ones to keep and if they make sense to the landscape. A lot of us understand what you’re talking about Nick! Every home we bought, one of the first jobs was to remove old and overgrown trees and shrubs. Old trees can be very dangerous to buildings. Most are either too close and dying off. Everything looks great that you four are doing!

He has to take the tiles up anyway to repair the floor underneath and since there are already missing tiles and he's sure to lose more in the lifting process, he can just re-lay them with a smaller footprint and use coordinating encaustics in a decorative border at the perimeter.

Wow! It looks wonderful. The hard graft has paid off. Job exceedingly well done. To see the floor changes the space. I’m not a gardener however I do agree with Nick in clearing around the house. His machines are a great help. I’m worrying about the Ivy now and wondering how much mortar has been pulled out between the bricks. Sure it looks pretty but it’s not good for walls. Anyone making negative comments about tree clearance, obviously knows nothing about tree structure! If a 30’ tree is 15’ from the Chateaux, it’s roots are a mirror image of what shows above ground, so 15’ of its roots will be undermining the structural integrity of the building! Trees grow BIG. And that doesn’t take into account what damage they’d do if they were blown down ONTO the chateaux. There’s got to be enough distance between trees and building for the potential for damage to be minimised. Those are my thoughts anyway. You clear those trees, you can always plant smaller, less risky replacements once you’ve got to the landscaping stage. Loving the Vlogs.
