Habitat loss is one of the greatest threats to the survival of orangutans. This short video allows you to see wild orangutans flying through trees and mothers and babies interacting. But it also talks about the terrible impact of the palm oil industry and how it is one of the greatest threats to this species.
For more information on orangutans or other endangered species, please follow us on our KZbin channel and other social media platforms. we encourage you to share this short video with everyone who cares about their impact on wildlife and get ideas on how you can make a difference.

I've spent many hours these past couple of years watching videos of these beautiful creatures; they've kept me so intrigued as to make the quarantine bearable. That humans are responsible for decimating their population to 20% of what it was not so long ago is an unforgivable crime to me. I'd rather we go and have them stay; the planet would be grateful.

It's sweet watching them drink that milk, some babies a little less carful than others. I've seen babies putting their whole heads in the milk and coming ups with milk splashing down their faces. Very cute . Linda/SAFE Worldwide founder

There’s no stopping this madness. And we will be judged on how we treat the helpless animals. Humankind is a virus

Zoologists love pointing out how much DNA we share with primates. But the fact is we share a lot of genetic similarities with rats, pigs, and dogs. In fact most mammals.

It helps people make an emotional connection with them and see orangutans as our cousins who we must save.

Rats, dogs and pigs are super smart and I respect those species for their intelligence and caring values. Yet I assure you that when look into the eyes of an orangutan (or even a mountain gorilla), when you hold them, hold their hands, communicate with them, we are related. I hope you (and everyone else) get to see them in the wild one day and connect with them. I interface with many wildlife species. I cherish them all and find a connection with all species. But being so closely related to great apes, it's a different feeling. We truly are connected on levels not possible with rats and pigs, though I know they are so super smart and caring. @@SAFEworldwide you’re doing a phenomenal job. I just don’t understand how you do not have more followers. Where can one donate to the cause? This is what’s needed, not zoo’s with their version of “conservation” which is completely manipulated.

@@NinoG053 Hi Terry, thank you so much for your support. People can find out more about us at www.SAFEworldwide.org and the work we do with wildlife and the communities in their habitat. We will soon be partnering with an NGO that will bring rhinos back into Uganda's national parks. They were decimated during the Uganda civil war but now will be reintroduced back into the region. We are excited to be supporting such a critical project.

Do they or are they ever weaned off or away from the feeding table. Or do they have to rely on the extra food supplements at one of the feeding stations.

That's an excellent questions. When fruits and plants that they eat are plentiful, then yes, the orangutans decide to move further away from the platform and visit less frequently or not at all anymore. Mothers and their young seem to stay closer to the platforms, but ultimately, the goal of every rescue organization should be to wean any released animal (this goes for all wildlife) completely from human interference so that they are wholly dependent on their natural habitat for all sources of food and care. At the current level of deforestation on the planet, it will become harder and harder for that to happen. Which is why the work of all of us, should we choose to engage in making a difference, should be to apply pressure on companies and governments to make decisions that protect the natural rainforests, sources of water and natural environment that they have. As an example, see what Sri Lanka just did: www.reuters.com/article/sri-lanka-palmoil-imports-idUSKBN2BS1GG Change is possible, and each voice matters. That's not just a tag line, it's a fact. Thanks for the questions Peter. Linda Founder, SAFE Worldwide

It's to bad there's not enough funding to move all the orangutans to a safe environment. It's obvious Indonesia dosen't care about them. Orangutans are such beautiful animals.
