Just wanted to say thanks for this video. I've been hunting for the creaking noise on my Rise for a week and your video helped me find it!

Thanks for letting me know! I’m glad to help another Rise owner! If it somehow managed to come back, just do the same process. It only means that the preload is still too much. Don’t look at anywhere else because the creaking is only coming from the linkage. The creaking on ny wife’s Rise didn’t come back and in a way I wanted it to so that I can make a video of it 😁 but its been good. Thanks again!

Thx for the useful tip. Small extension: the right linkage pinch bolt on the 2022 occam frame has a 15 Nm limit. I used 14 Nm, the noises are gone.

Hi, did your Occam remain creak free since then? I'm having this same issue on my 2022 Occam M30 and I'm not having any luck getting it resolved. I even replaced the whole axle assembly and most of the bearings and it only took 3 rides for the creaking to come back.

Sorry to hear about that. Ours didn't come back after the fix. Maybe loose it up a bit more. You can keep it a bit loose as long as the shaft is not shifting/moving side to side or there's no play. Good luck!
@johnas72 жыл бұрын
mines been the same, copied this vid and seems better. how tight did you tighten the bolts after loosening it? did you use a torque wrench? thanks
@tjay_mac2 жыл бұрын
10 N.m per manual on the pinch bolts. The creaking should disappear. If it comes back or you can still slightly hear it, lessen the preload some more. You can lessen it more as long as there's not play in the linkage/frame.

My rise also has the same creak. Bike store didn't find it but hubby did. He lubed the same pivot/linkage point as well twice now and it is doing it again. Seems to be happening to quite a few of us. Disappointing in a 10 grand bike. You say uou think the bike store over tightened the preload nut but are all the bike stores doing that I don't think so. I think your wifes bike will have that noise again. But at least you k ow where it is for next time.
@tjay_mac2 жыл бұрын
Nah… It’s not going to come back because I properly torqued it down. Its been over 500 miles, no creaking and that will not come back. Lubing it is not the fix. I used the lube to “find” where the creak is coming from. Once found, I then fixed it. Bike stores? The frame comes in assembled with the shock (where the linkage is connected to) from the factory. The shock/linkage doesn’t get installed at a bike shop. The bike shop just need to put the components together. So from the assembly line, maybe few workers were over tightening these preload nut.

Which pre load nut are you talking about??

Orbea has released a new improved link that solves this problem. Unfortunately, as Orbea usually does, there is no service campaign. They released faulty equipment and are not responsible for it. If your bike is under warranty, you can demand a replacement, if it is already out of warranty, the entire set with bearings etc. costs about $100.
@tjay_mac6 ай бұрын
@@tomoman5564 Just adjust the preload. The creaking hasn’t come back since I did this fix and its been 2 years and 2k miles.

@@tjay_mac got new bike, so they fix it under warranty. I told them about your fix, and they laughed at me and didn't want to listen. Anyway, the bike rides ok, but I already know that the next time I change my bike, I will never buy Orbea again.

This is a great video, BUT the preload tool should ALWAYS be used for the specific pivot point.
@tjay_mac2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Idk where else you can use that preload tool other than the drive-side upper linkage. I didn’t have the need to use it because the culprit was the too much preload in the linkage to axle.

@tjay_mac2 жыл бұрын
Try putting a play/movement between the linkage and frame to eliminate any preload. To the point that the linkage axle is sliding through the frame in and out. Then see if the creak is still there, if it is we’ll try other things… For now, put a play in the linkage and check for creak.
@ramoer2 жыл бұрын
@@tjay_mac Ok thanks, I''ll give it a try. I did loosen the 5mm pinch bolts but I found to hard to create the play in the axle.

Forget about dry lube, alle the bearings are toast. My RISE is a H10 2022, with 1000km ridetime. And all the bearings are done.....!!!
@tjay_mac Жыл бұрын
The dry lube is not meant to get rid of the creaking. It was used as a process of elimination to find the culprit. There was no greasing or lubing needed on this bike as I mentioned in the video the joints on this bike had grease oozing out. It was the preload in the linkage that was causing the creak. As for your bearings, grease it. Not supposed to lube those.
