I have been searching for this song for 20 years. I had it on my old PC and a single burned disc that had "orb" written on it. I lost everything when i went to prison and I've searched and searched and almost gave up. Tonight i gave it another shot, but gave up and moved on, but i let autoplay keep going while i started cleaning my bedroom and after another hour,... I...hear ît and I'm telling you A WAVE OF A VERY SERIOUS FEELING WASHED OVER ME¡ I started crying so hard (still crying but manageable now, just no nose breathing). I was instantly snatched into the past to a sunny beautiful day 20 years ago. Driving my truck near the beach with my windows down, BLASTING THIS and feeling so good. The sun, the wind... I always new i loved this track, but i never knew a song could make me feel this euphoria. It's like finding a treasure, long lost and given up on .. I'm sorry for the ramble, I'm just so appreciative right now. Thank you.... so much

This seamless combination of parts 1 and 2 is nothing less than EDM symphony of perfection. It was once upon a time, in the mid-20th century, when a new genre of music was essentially 'born'. It was then that a completely new sound emerged, consisting of electronic synthesizer-like intruments, introduced by the musical pioneer Robert Moog, who developed the first synthesizer in 1964. It was throughout the next decade that the potential of electronic based music became increasingly recognized & thus established itself as a genre, as synthesizers became the basis for 'electronic acts' & at the same time, were being incorporated by pop & rock groups during the late 1960s & 1970s. Since the launch of the first mass produced synthesizer, the Yamaha DX7 in 1983, this paved the way for the eclectic evolution of electronic music over the next 4 decades & resulted in the creation of inumerable mind-altering melodies & seminal sound-bites. If (like me) you now consider yourself a true EDM soundphile, & are also old enough to remember your first 'eargasm', moment of 'awakening', or musical 'epiphany' which for many, ignited an insatiable appetite for aural pleasure, & set in motion a life-long exploration for musical gems & more electronic 'eargasms'. Those of us who now love EDM & could now say they have a 'trained ear' for being able to recognize creative genius & appreciate the work of gifted artists such as the Chemical Brothers, Jon Hopkin & Orbital, will recognize Nothing Left (parts 1&2) & other Orbital compositions such as 'Are we here' & 'lush 3-1, 3-2' as nothing less than monuments of EDM perfection.

bought this cd the minute it came out. these two tracks, awesome. they put beats and sounds together like nobody's business. saw them twice in NYC, once a month or so after 9/11. story is they were told they prolly shouldn't go but they chose to go to help lift the spirits of New Yorkers. they did mine.

@@andyhyde4947 yep 1999 (with the following album, The Altogether in 2001) i loved my cd copy of this - until it got stolen from my flat (along with many others in a slow-creep snidey way from a 'mate' that would regularly pop round to play tunes, have a mix & a smoke over a number of years (at least it was most likely him as we had similar tastes; may have been more than one arsehole though). all that remained was the cardboard sleeve and i would only find out these albums had disappeared once i wanted to play them again and couldnt find them. some got replaced, some i forgot the details of over time and couldnt search for vague visual memories of artwork etc. some i may not have even realised arent actually in my collection...

It really is. Brilliant is what I'd call it. If you have to put it in a box (ironic, considering 'the box' is one of their greatest works), it's probably closer to progressive house than anything else, but their roots are a combination of punk and acid house. They grew up listening to Kraftwerk and Sex Pistols and you can hear that in their work.
@TheAceLewis4 жыл бұрын
Yeah this song is very undefinable in the realm of techno. I think that’s part of why I find myself returning to listen to it so often. It’s a music experience, something about it is like listening to a story being told without being able to understand the words being said. You still get the message regardless of your ability to understand. It’s beautiful.

This is the techno made easier & of this style of build, layer & flow... Which comes more naturally to produce from hardware synced together... It is not in the box built as a electronic arrangement... Nobody was glued to a pc screen & mouse while arrangements & edits of decisions made to their stuff, is more like building Lego audio as a result imo? Tho minimal by composition it's the maximal of electronic dance influences in production nature... For examples of such imo? They knew the skills of synthesis & programming the devices best for them thru changing times, & prior to computers being added or central to the process. Just like they say mostly for the real world of instruments for recordings... Get the sound right at the source firstly, & the less fuss is had thereafter. Their tunes never sound like electronic or pop arrangements created in the box on DAW software... Lego tunes???
