this has a lot of depth - pretty good .. i like Foundry with the robot holding an auger drill - Shapehero Factory looks fun too - also Oddsparks and Final Factory - Lifecraft might be good for my Biology Fan Medic Pal ... and Autoforge i like since Robotics is interesting... the last 2 are awesome too yet to mention -- Industrial Annihilation or and Starground Cat out of the box! great time with the 8 mention the most here

I was interest in Techtonica from this list, but when I went to Steam I found its recent reviews are mostly negative due to people claiming it was drastically cut back and "released" so now it's a linier story game rather than an open world factory game - which is not at all the impression you give here. I don't know if you have glossed over this or if the steam people are making stuff up, but it made me reconsider buying it.

Loved Oddsparks for a long while, but ran into a common issue - kinda felt like I was just knocking up the next building, connecting it in, repeat. I have not played an automator where I regularly felt like I got somewhere (beyond getting more stuff to build).

@@TheYdyp The farmer was replaced was 2023 and still early access. So that doesn't seem to be the factor. DSP also added in enemies in the last year if my time frame is correct.

@@mikecarter8880 Dark Fog was 2023. DSP hasn't had any major updates in 2024. Not to say it isn't a worthy automation game in its own right, because it most certainly is, but it's not an automation game of 2024. Though, as you say, TFWR isn't, really, either. It got a major rework earlier this month but no new content this year AFAIK. Ultimately I think the "factor" is what Potato played this year. Which includes TFWR, evidently, but not DSP. _Neither_ of them got mentioned in the 2023 version of this video, incidentally.

The problem with Factorio is that it far exceeds just about any game in any genre for content and attention to detail 10/10 for me even without Space Age! That said, Shapez 2 is surprisingly good even in EA and presents a fair old challenge in a different way to Factorio. The only problem I have with Satisfactory is that it lacks a real challenge.. making a factory look nice only goes so far for me.

@@discodiffusioner They rushed completion as they ran out of money due to lack of sales. They also changed the map to alleviate performance issues as best as they could with the resources (money) they had left and a lot of people did not like it. The game does have an ending now and it is very playable in its current state. They also have the 0.5 legacy game with the old map available if people want to play the older version.

I would love to play Factorio but the 2D/Interface breaks my brain. I just can't do it. I love Satisfactory, though. One of my favorite games of all time easily.

Satisfactory doesn't belong on any list other than loser devs that took the epic exclusive money hat deal list. Eden Crafters is a nice mix of automation game and Planet Crafters gameplay. It is a bit rough around the edges still but rather enjoyable.
