Everyone keeps blaming Blackfish for the backlash against Seaworld and I'm sick of it. Anyone in their right mind wouldn't think that keeping these animals in pools and forced to perform for food and human entertainment is normal and alright. Even if you ignore the doc existing, if you are sound in the head, alarm bells should be going off. You wouldn't allow this treatment for humans, why are we doing it to other animals?

ExActly! I often wondered why they were kept in that tiny pool! let them go cut the loss

There is many options for Seaworld available on the table. From retiring their current collection to sea sanctuaries where the public can still go and visit to even retiring the shows, taking long term care until their current collection goes instinct and build HD/3D showcases along with a actual amusement park. Seaworld REFUSES change. They do not want to retire, release, or get rid of profit. Not to mention each orca has a HUGE insurance policy on them. I can see Seaworld quietly killing them off to collect it before they would go bankrupt. Keep in mind that Seaworld is a business. A FOR PROFIT business first and foremost.

If they were being aggressive to one another then they would separate them (example: Tilly in the past usually gets attacked by the females and so they separated the orcas who are always aggressive to him and put him with whales who they would get along with!)

Jocelyn Rios There are "anti-captivity" comments because in the wild, there would be no such "gate" for Nakai to injure him. The injury is abnormal but bound to happen in such a small environment, when orca whales really should be in the ocean.

if a trainer gets hurt or killed by an orca in this case, they should free it, not put other trainers lives in jeapordy! the wild is where they belong! ]

You can't watch blackfish and automatically say you're a whale advocate. Do your research people!

Leggo My Ego You didn't understand my comment. I said people need to do their research and develop their own opinions instead of watching someone else's. That's like someone telling you that they don't agree with something, and you just automatically side with them just because they said it. People need to think for themselves.

And how do you have a portion of the pool environment that is accessible to cause this type of injury. I thought Sea World was about the upmost care and safety of their animals. (sarcasm). I wonder if that was from all the times they make those poor, majestic, magnificent animal Beach themselves on the concrete. Why if an animal has that injury, are they going to continue to have that animal jump up on the concrete. It's like having road rash, and you keep rubbing that same spot on the street. Proof speaks for itself. Some vet!!! What ever happened to rehab. It clearly shows the injury with the orca being forced to perform! Much prayer is needed for these animals.

Imagine yourself being kept in a tiny sterile room with foreign people speaking different languages. Earning frozen food for the rest of your life. Would you feel "just fine"? The "smile" of the orcas and dolphins is an illusion! If they had the same facial expressions humans have, I am pretty sure people won´t go to SW anymore because they can see how sad these beautiful poor mammals look.

It is not normal for whales in the wild to be so aggressive. When they live in the pods they choose for themselves or are born into, whale on whale aggression that results in an injury this severe is extremely rare. At Sea World, it happens so often that they like to call it "natural behavior". No matter how you feel about PETA, it's painfully obvious that whales cannot cope in small spaces with artificially assembled pods.

Do you mean you saw a 'behind the scenes tour' that was created by Seaworld? Think about that, don't you think Seaworld might be a little biased, they're not going to put out any information that makes them look bad. Please before you make a decision, do a bit more research into the subject, like take AxelShurikin's advice and watch Blackfish. When I was younger I didn't see anything wrong with Seaworld either but then I got informed.
