I just wanted to thank you so much for making these videos. I have learned so much and enjoyed listening while I’m at work. It is amazing background noise and very enjoyable to see the beautiful flowers at my leisure. Love it keep up the great work!!!

All the blooms look wonderful!! I have a mini mark with a very mild fragrance which kind of reminds me of Jasmine. I prefer the unstaked Phals. They look pretty draped over the foliage! :)

Hands down my favorite will always be the Iwanagaara Appleblossom! Just located one here in the US that is in bloom and being shipped Monday. I found out that it really pays to talk to the growers directly. They have jewels available that are not advertised on their websites! Also got a Laelia Santa Barbara Sunset, large mounted plant! Can't wait to see them...Xmas in May!

I have to admit, I stumbled across your channel by accident (obviously youtube thought that bonsai and orchids are very similar), but I grew to like your channel. And actualy thanks to you I found a few orchids I would like to grow myself (never was into blooming flowers). So I wanted to thank you for showing me those beauties. In this video in particular (which is one of the first I watched) the Dendrobium cuthbertsonii... let's just say it's love at first sight. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get my hands on it, but if I do, I'd deffinetely do my best to keep it alive and well. I love the small (or rather tiny) orchids, in the past I was mostly put off by the size (my sis has mostly phals or some other rather big orchids for my tastes even though some have tiny flowers). But this one, perfect. Those leaves remind me of a rainforest because it looks like they have dropplets of water all over them and just the color is something I can't resist. Also the flowers are just gorgeous. Thanks to you this is one of the I think 4 orchids I saw in your videos that are on my watchlist to add to my mostly fruit/veggie garden around the windows and on a balcony, I hope they can do well here, we'll see. But again, thanks and I'm looking forward to a guide video on the Dendrobium cuthbertsonii, cause I'll probably just look for it 'till I find it, can't get it out of my head :)

Hi Danny. Bought my first non supermarket phal from an orchid show two months (?) ago and what a cutie, Lui’s Cute Angel. Is a miniature phal of pink petals and red Lip and a strong citric scent early in the morning. My first scented phal ! Love that Sogo Grape !!!

Ahh your collection always brings me so much joy! They are all so lovely! If I HAD to choose id say the Zygopetalum Rhein Clown. But I am biased to the really odd looking orchids. In terms of staked vs unstaked, I'm not sure. I think it depends on the orchid really! Some look so nice unstaked, others can look nice but its a hazard in that they may fall!
@michelledry4995 жыл бұрын
I love it staked a little bit on a shorter stake so you get the best of both worlds, up a bit but still cascading.
@rosea.68675 жыл бұрын
Sogo grape has such a divine colour! That’s my favourite but so many others came close - the dendrob, and orange/gold phals are stunners. I think staking looks good with a bit of cascade too. Depends how long the spike is before the first flower because staking helps with long spikes in a crowded space but if there’s ample room, a shorter stake could allow some waterfall-type effect while supporting the weight.

They are all so beautiful. Thanks for sharing. The Phalaenopsis Sogo Grape is quite captivating. Loving the deep colour - reminiscent of the Thai Black Dendrobium. Gets my vote for April.

I have a name for the Lacey Phal. It's Phalaenopsis Chia E Yenlin. Such a lovely hybrid. Really stands out against the normal shop Phals. There is also a variegated variety apparently. I've even seen one with slight Phal. schilleriana like spots. Wish I'd bought it!

My phal display is just a mess... I often forgot to stake them and even if I stake them, I don't remember to move string, so display is varied. One of my white phals have flower spike with u-turn in middle xD

Hi Danny, I really love your videos and bought a few orchids. Now the problem is that I live in India and here it's super hot... generally the temperature is above 40 degree Celsius in summer and the normal average temperature is 32-35 degrees Celsius. Also the humidity is lesser than 20%. How do I care for my phalaenopsis and dendrobium orchids. Also please suggest the best orchid for this weather.

Beautiful blooms! I think the phals look best and un-staked, but if it’s a stability issue feel free to stake them.

14. Phalaenopsis NoID Pink Vains might be Phalaenopsis Anthura Leningrad, I got her as a gift and her root system was in bad shape. When I trimmed away all of the brown mushy roots, she was rootless, eventually a black rot started to creep up her rootless stem to the core of her last 2 leaves and eventually gave up. She was beautiful!! Hope this helps IDing your Phalaenopsis. 💗

15:39 I got one of these on clearance for a dollar. I never would have given it a second look normally but after I brought it home, I noticed the lip mutation and I was so pleasantly surprised by it. I've been collecting Phals that have odd lips.
@raquelswavycurls5 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure that Phalaenopsis no ID 2 face is the Magic Art Hybrid. It has an unstable gene where the colours can inverse, so it's been noted that some flowers can be light with the dark spots amd edging, while others can be a dark burgundy with white edging. Your flowers that were split down the middle looked a combination of the 2 variations.

Hi Danny i'm new. It's my birthday to Blanca. I was hoping to get myself an orchid but no luck 😕 I love the boyfriend Phalaenopsis. I love the way the back of the flower is slightly paler solid yellow it really sets off the vibrant yellow, orange, red of the faces of it's neighbourings so it looks good were ever it is looking. I prefer pendant to staked. But I think the shorter stake idea sounds cool so I will be giving it a go next year with my phalaenopsis. Thanks Danny you have helped me no end with my orchids. I have lost so many beauties in the past but you're show has given me the confidence to try again 😊

A Zygopetalum is a Zygopetalum. And don't complain about its fragrance coz it' s better than having a phal. I ordered a zygo from a flower shop before Easter. Smells heavenly like a hyacinth. When I wanted to reppotted (the bulbs were shooting out), the bulbs had 3 kg of white roots intermingled. It was a ball of roots, brick hard with no medium, just green moss on top. I leave it like that in another pot with 1cm larger and filled the bottom of the pot with bark. I'd like to see you reppotting a zygo. Mine is still in bloom after struggling to get her out of the pot. Just 2 leaves yellowing to the older bulbs which I considered a succes.About staking, if you have the space, it' s looking better pendant.

I need your advice! Please help!! I have one phalaenopsis orchid. I have had her almost 3 years. And she blooms once a year usually in November, then grows one to two new leaves after I cut the spike. This year she bloomed like normal and kept her blooms till about February. I noticed a new leaf growth starting so I cut the flower spike. And did my normal fertilizer. However a week or so ago I noticed ANOTHER flower spike coming out.. I'm grateful she wants to put out more beautiful flowers for me but im nervous since my new growth leaf is still quite small and growing. I dont want all of her energy to go to another flower spike...and am worried about my new growth. What should I do? Should i let the flower spike grow? Or cut it so the plants energy goes to her new leaf?! I dont want to stress my orchid out.... this is the first time shes produced a new leaf and flower spike at the same time..and within only 2 1/2 months shes putting out another flower spike

Actually in case you are interested: Phal Sweet Memory is actually a bellina hybrid. The hybrid was registered when bellina was still violacea var Borneo. The hybrid has every bellina trait in hybrids: the scent is citrusy, it has soft pink that fades on the petals and the dorsal sepal, the bellina lower sepals typical markings are visible too etc. If it were a violacea hybrid, the pattern would be more evenly pink-magenta, and the scent would be completely different too. Example of a link to OrchidWeb, they did a remake of the hybrid, and you will see it listed as bellina hybrid. www.orchidweb.com/orchids/phalaenopsis/hybrids/phal-sweet-memory-bellina-x-deventeriana-treva-hcc-aos
