oh how exciting that Samba Brazil gave you blooms this year. I don't even have any buds starting yet, they always bloom very late here (usually right on Christmas) because our days take so long to get short enough. If I was more responsible, I would cover them to give them a longer night cycle to bloom them earlier but I did that once and forgot to take the box off for four days.

I'm so happy that she bloomed the first year! The blooms are mesmerizing! :) My sister used to live in S Carolina and her cacti didn't bloom till Valentine's day. Mine would stop blooming, and hers would start. lol. I'll take blooms any day, especially on this beautiful Samba. Interesting, Snow White had a single bloom the day we brought Jasmine home on June 22!!

Happy Thanksgiving, Amy! I always look forward to videos where you talk about Thanksgiving cacti. For the first time ever, last winter I had some of my Thanksgiving cacti to bloom. It sent me over the moon! I found your channel and learned how to care for these plants. After a summer outside, when I brought them inside in October, several plants had buds on them. They did not drop their buds when I brought them inside and they have been blooming for a couple of weeks now. From today's video I learned that there's a chance that the cacti that aren't blooming now may yet set buds. Now that I have succeeded in getting these plants to bloom, when spring comes I will be more active in providing care for my plants. Some need to be re-potted because they are top heavy. Also, for those plants with colors I really like, I plan on taking cuttings so I can fill pots with more plants. This will give me bushier plants. Without your great advice in your KZbin videos, I doubt I would ever be as successful or excited in my growing of Thanksgiving cacti. Thank you, Amy!

So pretty, Amy! My peach still doesn't have any buds. All my other colors do. I believe it is the genetics in this plant. Every year she is the last to bud out. Big Red and Snow White are gigantic! What a show they'll be! 💜 😇 💚 And... there's the baby on video! I love it? 🐕 😇

Hi Sharon! I thought I remembered you telling me the peach one blooms late. I'm breathlessly waiting for it to bloom...lol! Mine are blooming a little later this year because of the warm fall we've had. The buds on Big Red this year are magenta!!!! My plant is very old given to me by a friend who had it for yrs herself. She never covered her plant to force blooming bc of where she had them. I'm covering it now bc I saw in a video that they needed to rest while blooming was coming on and that artificial light hampered that. It's gotten some buds on it now. Was hoping for it to bloom for Thanksgiving but I suppose it'll be for Dec. Can't wait! Lol... and thx for your videos. They are soooooo helpful 😊

Thank you for the watering tip. My cactus bloomed for Halloween. The pot has 3 different colors planted. We are all excited when we have success. How many times have we all just gone out and purchased a new one or two or three yearly? They can be addictive. I saw a peach color and was tempting. Happy Holidays to you and your family.

Yes, my Big Red does change color from year to year. Sometimes it's magenta, sometimes it's orange-red, and sometimes it's scarlet. He always keeps me guessing!

Ok. I have some questions! Lol. First, I just picked up 2 Thanksgiving cacti (Saturday) at Walmart (of all places) is there anything I should do first or look for? I know they are stressed just because of all they’ve been through recently, but one of them has just started showing a lightening around part of the leaves edges. I’ve never had that happen before and was wondering what it is or what I can do? Also, I am in love with Snow White & cannot wait for Big Red to bloom!!! Oh my gosh they are amazing! Hi Karen! There's really nothing to do at this point with your new cacti except enjoy them. They do lighten a bit around the edges sometimes before they bloom. Just fertilize them in the spring after they stop blooming, and that will give them an added boost. Happy growing and Happy Thanksgiving! Amy

​@@OrchidWhisperer I'll definitely take you up on that offer. BTW I have a greenhouse here at my home in North Carolina so to make it easier for you i'm actually rooting several cuttings right now. Just so you have the best chance at having big blooms the first year you have em'. My fears were for nothing because my cuttings started developing flower buds before roots 😂🤣 I'll package the rooted cuttings in a box with the pot in the middle wrapped with bubble wrap all around it.
