Hi Amy! Thank you for the mention. And thank you for demonstrating the correct way to use a moisture meter as many will benefit! I am an overwaterer too and have lost cuttings in the past because of it. My two Easter cacti are blooming but are way behind where they were last year. And a have a Clivia that has always sent up a bloom stalk by now but nothing yet. Thank you for passing on all your good information and those from the community. I'm so sorry about Buddy. I lost my beloved miniature dachshund Molly Brown during the Pandemic and miss her every day. They're truly family!

Hi Molly! You're so welcome...I appreciated your feedback so much. And I'm glad you mentioned that you have to use the meter correctly or it wont give an accurate reading. That tip will help lots of people. This growing season, all my plants are blooming later than usual...or they are continuing to bloom past their normal bloom season. It's so unique. @@OrchidWhisperer Thank you Amy! I love being part of your wonderful community! I don't grow orchids but was drawn to your channel by your wonderful self and gorgeous plants. Quick question. My friend was given a beautiful Phal in bloom. I peeked at the substrate and didn't like what I saw. If I repot it into orchid bark for her now will it cause shock and the blooms will drop? This friend is not a plant person and I'm currently rehabbing her overwatered amaryllis bulb. I want to make it as easy for her as I can so she can keep and enjoy this orchid for years. Thank you Amy and thank you for your condolences for my little smidgen of browness as I used to call her! 😇 🙏

@@mollys1584 oh my, what a sweet comment! 😊 I'm so glad you're part of my channel and I appreciate your friendship. As for your friend's orchid, wait till it fully blooms and the blooms have set, that takes about a month. Then you can repot it and it wont disturb the bloom cycle. I have a repotting playlist that will help you. Orchiata is the BEST bark, and it's long lasting. I know people who can't grow plants but can grow orchids. Tell her to wait to water when the roots turn silver, water thoroughly, then drain thoroughly. I hope her orchid thrives. And you're a nice friend to do that. Many blessings to you, Molly! 😇🌸⚘💜

I didn’t know any better and kept it outside during our winter and it survived- it has new blooms now! I though it was like a regular cactus and only watered it a few times since i got it last year. Im kinda sad I neglected it so much and has managed to live !

I keep both my CC and TC in a bay window with southwest exposure. In three seasons the temperature in that bay can go down to 60. On summer I keep the shades down in that bay. They love colder temps.

Beautiful cactus. I live in southern Virginia and i agree this year has been drastically cooler than usual and i brought my plants outside too early according to the temperature.

I’m going to do a test this winter with my Easter cactus. I’ve successfully grown all my holiday cacti in the hot hot hot southeast summer. And here where I live in NC we only have about 2 weeks in total out of the year where it goes below freezing. So I’m keeping an eagle’s eye on my phones weather app and just taking them inside when it goes below freezing and immediately going back out when it thaws. My theory is that the temperature and light changes of being outside most of the year will mimic their wild environment in Brazil and hopefully that’ll help trigger blooms. Will report back in the spring!

Whatever you are doing with your Easter cactus - it's working 👍 As for the Christmas and Thanksgiving cacti, they look splendid. I too discovered the result of overwatering these 😱 the blooms fell off immediately. Now I will be following your tip to use the moisture meter prodigiously. Thank you for the tutorial on how to propagate them, I would never have guessed how to do that. Take care 🌸🌷

Hi Amy 🌼, such great tips in your video. I have a couple of “leggy” cacti that I need to trim a little. Looking forward to seeing the beautiful blooms on your new one🌸. Since my cacti were loving the lighting you suggested, my husband totally overhauled my old lights to lights like your halo lights & set them up so nice (my old ones had the clamps).
