30:00 One point of the rules for charging skirmishers (and any charge really) is to move the shortest path possible. Wheeling will never be shorter than a straight line.

@@MountainMiniatures yes, it is weird. In the diagram it says to "move as directly as possible" but it actually aligns with the closest model. Maybe what "directly" means here is to move in the direction of the center to center line. In any case, i dont think that being able to choose trajectory is the intent.

Was just reading rules on Glade Lord/Captain on Stag and saw the Stag has Clumsy. Does that prevent him from joining units like Wild Riders because they don't have Clumsy?

It only stops non-clumsy characters joining clumsy units, it has no effect the other way around. So Stag in Wild Riders is fine, but a little foot character couldn't join a clumsy unit like Tree Kin

@@Erebus-oc9zq If someone is insisting that characters can only join units of the same type, ask them to prove that. You won't find a counter because it's not necessarily to write that characters can join any unit because that is the baseline without a rule stating otherwise. Note though, there are a few places where characters are restricted in what units they can join. Monstrous infantry/cavalry, chariots, monsters, flyers and skirmishers all specifically restricted characters

I love this thanks guys! Question: with the rule of three thing, does that mean I can only take three units of night goblins even if some are bows and some spears and others hand w? Does that mean only 9 fanatics max? 😂

if you're using a rule of three that only applies to units with no existing limits, night goblins aren't affected because they already have a limitation of 0-1 per night goblin character. so if you take 6 characters, you can take 6 night goblin mobs

the rule of three is a rule anywhere in the rule book, and we wont implement that house rule here, ever. But if your going to an even that has the rule, its best to check with the organizer exactly how they are implementing it. that is even if they do.

Didnt manage to catch the end while you guys were live, UK time and all that! Fantatics are so funny! Great unit. Also, just use treesinging if you really need to hold the wild riders back. Normally you would keep the caster further back so she isnt in dispel range. Oaken stave for extra dispel range so she can still dispel too. You can also use walk between worlds to move back after casting. In an all tree spirit army, it's less reliable due to being within dispel range more easily.

I agree, the shooting is weak. Not so much because the very nature of ranged but more-so the dimension of the playing field. You pretty much have to deploy in someone's face to shoot them and in wide formations. You get one or two shots off and then get charged and everything is in combat. Can't deploy behind anything unless you have a wide hill, even then the deployments are cramped. I just don't see the point beside a few token war machines for variety. I saw one shooting army do well and it was basically all shooting, and that's because the opponent took their sweet time crossing the field. So the shooting can cause damage if it has time to fire, problem is, you don't have time to fire and get proper value out of them in most cases.

Shooting is indeed weak, and especially in wood elf case its waaay too expensive. This edition can be compared in many points to 6th edition, but some points; 1. shooting is very much same as in 6th edition, except wood elfs got nerfs. 2. close combat is almost same, except falling back in good order etc (which is good imo) 3. Movement is more smoother and flexing in this edition, and also charge ranges are longer than in 6th edition. 4. Many other armies melee core troops have gotten buffs or point reductions (or both), meanwhile wood elf points are pretty much same or even higher. If you combine 1,3 and 4 you can see why especially wood elfs are having rough time with shooting builds. @@pinch1loaf

Ok hear me out, Fanatics are units so they should be limited to the rule of 3 (max per army). Why not? Not only I would argue that's rules as written and intended, but it definetly make for better games. With 6 or even more 9 it's just about the random dices, the rest of the battle really doesn't matter. 3 are more than enought to have a big (and funny and random) impact on the game

Sorry, didn't want to sound blunt. Rule of 3 is not written anywhere, but it seems that is suggested by GW for tournament-play, and that you also decided to enforce it as well elsewhere. So, why wouldn't fanatics count as a unit per se, instead of the unit that the hide into? Anyway keep up the good works, big fan of this battle reports and the armies reviews!@@MountainMiniatures
