Unchained did start out as more of a pvp focused game but it later evolved into a more co-op based game true to the originals.

Unchained had only one 3-line map and MOBA like game mode for months during beta test. It was planned to be something like Smite i think.

I played until they shut down the servers, and by that time it was basically like the other OMD games just with a more diverse roster of characters who actually had unique abilities/play styles to them. The game ended up with a fairly large list of co-op levels as well as weekly co-op challenge levels, etc etc. The PvP was largely ignored.

Graphics aren't on par with modern consoles or a halfway decent pc, frame rate is terrible, even with the fastest internet in the world, you're still going to end up with lag, so no on-line competitive play, there was no desire from the gaming community for it, the target demographic is tiny (gamers that can't game on anything but their phones?), it's google (almost every country has some kind of anti-trust / rules of fair competition google has broken), etc, etc,etc... I could go on all day. It's about 20 years too early for what they tried. Any other company would have gone bankrupt or abandoned this project by now, but google has money to burn.

@@CAPCOM784 there is no downloading with stadia, and the same could be saod about games you buy digitally on any platform, granted they're more established and less likely to disallear overnight. Google is still buying studios and updating stadia so I can't imagine them giving up just yet. The biggest obstacle is the troll community who hates on stadia without trying it, or had issues and never resolved it, people were comparing stadia fans to flat earthers... which doesn't make sense. Stadia works. It works really well, as time goes on it will have more triple a games and better ui, but at the end of the day the seamless experience is what keeps me.

This review basicly gets everything right but it should point out mayor flaws aswel. -Flyers enemies are completely gone. cutting variety by ALOT enemy and map wise. -Correct only Fire type immune enemies but you only get 1 trap able to do ice dmg after upgrade (inside and must be on ceiling) +1 ice 'WAR map only' but is inferior to almost all other "war" traps, making you lean on Ice trinket if you need too. - If you played OMD1or2 the war maps are extremly easy imo, easily 5 skulled even on rift lord (highest diff) infact if you are a veteran OMD player you will basicly only have 2 maps which are hard to 5skull on riftlord diff. -Endless mode has been changed too wave per wave meaning wave only start when you kill last remaining Unit vs the old timed waves after a few. This stops flow and makes you basicly feel no pressure. -!!Big enemies Clog on a 2hex opening ALL the time(standard size for blockades and the meant traps/funnelsize). Thus leading to only the front traps doing anything most of the time. Using ice/stone/distract to clog is meaningfull because you CHOOSE to create kill box there but enemies doing it on their own just feels/is buggy. - New traps but traps also removed such as boombarrel/Guardians/Rock chute/healing well/ COINforge/webspinner/voidwall/floorscorcher/etc. -Looking for other matches = Players looking are listed PER map/difficulty, Not one big scrollable window that shows all games you could join. resulting if you wanna join a random player you have to switch maps/difficulty (3 clicks per) too find anyone 18maps 3difficulties. I can see this might be better if the game was extremely popular but you could just have filters set up and/or the option to see all OR join random map/difficulty. I thankfully only tried this through the 1-month free stadia pro (and was actually suprised it ran smoothly though multiplayer has its stutter depending on other player). If i had bought this full price i would have been even more dissapointed. ++As a truly new player to the franchise I have no doubt you will have fun --vets will unfortunaly see the stripped traps/enemies/features. Maybe they holding back for when they are released from stadia exclusive to then drop an expansion making it atleast on par with the previous installments. If you are debating buying this I would recommend the OMD2 completely pack for 21$ on steam as you will have ALOT more value out of it.

ich bin froh, dass die "flyers" weg sind. Oftmals konnte man sie nurschwer sehen und die Menge an Flugabwehrfallen war auch sehr gering bzw zu teuer also musste man sie irgendwann wieder manuell abschießen. Ich persönlich fande sie nie herrausfordernd oder spannend sondern einfach nur nervig. Solange sie die "flyers" nicht sehr gut gebalanced bekommen, bin ich froh, dass sie raus sind.

I used my free month to play this game. Quite fun but it showcases the failings of Stadia. You have to be partied with your friend through Stadia before you enter the game sometimes because the in-game party system chooses not to work on occasion. Severe lag once orcs flood the map for every stage, and thats on my 2 gig up and down internet.

I loved Orcs Unchained, I even grinded out the platinum trophy for it. I love these types of games in general..... especially Dungeon Defenders. I hope this comes to Playstation. OMDU came out in 2017 and was shut down in 2019. They lost a lot of money on that game that, and needed to secure financial backing for OMD3 from Google through a TIMED exclusive. It'll be on other platforms soon enough. Google's the one that lost money here, not them.
