Team Built Custom Shops typically start in the $3,000-4,000 range and Master Built start around $5,000-6,000 if it’s just a Master Built from the standard Team Built options. The price goes up quickly once you start requesting options that aren’t in the Team Built building guide.

@GMSade4 жыл бұрын
Anywhere from 8 grand to unlimited (depending on woods, finishes, etc). I've seen them as much as 300 grand (including diamonds, rubies, etc). I would say the "usual" range is 8 - 15 grand. Sometimes, a used one in great shape can be had for less. Hope that helps.

Depends but team build I'd say 3-4k$ and master could be up to like 5 maybe 6k$ depending how insane and crazy ur imagination goes lol. I personally feel no guitar ever should go over 3k$ unless its a all original Vintage guitar. But that's just me.

I'm seriously considering having a Fender master build done on my dream guitar which is a black 72 or 74 Strat with a maple neck. My idol so to speak is the late, great Hughie Thomasson of The Outlaws. In my eyes there is nobody comparable that can play like he did. His right hand had a feather light touch and his fretting hand was strong!!! I had the pleasure of meeting Hughie before he died after a show and with paper & pen in hand I talked to him about this guitar. Unfortunately Hughie was either not much of gear head or just did such radical things to his guitars as far as pick-up configurations that it was never documented. I know he used telecaster volume & control knobs, Schaller tuning pegs and a brass nut. It was wired out of phase and the middle pick-up had been turned around. The guitar had a chrome plated shield according to Hughie due to the noise Strats make. Hugh said "it covers the guts on the inside and everything connects to it, even the bridge." Other than this information on his black/maple Strat, the types of pick-ups other than being hand wound I believe and everything else seem to be a mystery. I do know he used Dunlop Tortex .60 gauge picks. Some of his newer guitars have Duncan Humbuckers in the neck & bridge and rails in the middle while another has Fender noiseless pups. But alas I'm in search of that elusive black Strat!!!!! I like the larger headstock used in 72-74 as well as the heavy relic look on the neck and fret board. I don't have long fingers but have larger than average powerful hands so neck size and shape is important. I don't want the body to look like it's been beat to death so minor wear and blemishes are ok. Am I on an impossible mission? I know it can be done and I'm assuming that a lot of those custom options are done outside of Fender. Any help or additional information would be greatly appreciated as I embark on this journey. If ONLY I could've had it built and put in his hands just once prior to his passing...that would've been priceless. I know I've thrown a ton at you guys!!! Can ya handle these demands?

Richard hello! So sorry it took this long to get back to you, somehow I missed your question earlier and again, my apologies! That is a fantastic, specific, and very cool request. So, I decided to buy a custom shop guitar (not a team or master build) and placed the order on 12-10-2018. I was quoted 6 to 9 months, at 9 months I called and was told it was final assembly. 2 months later I called again and silence, no return call for 2 weeks. Called again and was told they were going to look into it and get back to me ASAP, that was the end October (10 month mark). December, I had to call again and they said "not much longer now", and i responded "this is no longer fun, if I could cancel the order I would". They said again"yeahhh, it wont be much longer now". called today (February 19th) no ETA (14 months)..... I once considered myself a Fender guy, but what happened was, while I was waiting, experimented with other Strat style manufactures and well... this is my last Fender, and will probably sell this one, assuming I ever get it. I am not the only one with this story, Fender has lost its way.

That’s really not that long considering that Fender is one the biggest guitar companies in the world. I personally know smaller builders in my area (metro Nashville) that have wait times of 2+ years and their work is just as good as Fender. I also knew a guy in my hometown who ordered a Custom Shop Fender back in the early 90s right after they made it available to the general public. It took six months and cost about double the price of an American Standard Strat he did really ask for anything that wasn’t available on an existing Fender production model other than a custom color. I happened to be at the store he ordered it through the day he picked it up, and it was absolutely amazing. The guy liked so much that a little over a year later he ordered another one just like it. The second one took 18 months for Fender to build and cost almost double the price of the first one.

You guys chatter more than giving useful info. One of the most important thing when choosing a masterbuild is that there are some options (ie stainless steel frets) that are only available through masterbuild. Also, when you discuss choosing the base model, you need to mention that even if a base model has certain spec (ie neck radius), it can all be changed when you choose various components during customization. What is the use of this video if you don't tell people this? This video is not very informative.

I'm currently in the process of putting together a custom order for a teambuilt strat and for me by far the most difficult part is the neck profile... since my dealer of choice is several hundred kilometres away I can't just go over there and try all kinds of neck profiles, so I have no idea which profile to choose. I'm not particularly fond of slims necks - I have several modern C's and I'd like the neck to be a little fatter even, so I might settle on a 59 John English neck, which would also fit since I'm building a '59 strat, but I don't have particularly large hands either so I'm a little unsure if the neck might even be a little too fat for hendrix style thumb playing with my hand size... I'd love to hear your suggestions for neck profiles you think are especially comfortable!
@_RLP5 жыл бұрын
Hi. I'm not one to "chat" on here, but this is something I've been asked before. My advice is: either go with something a bit slimmer than what you think you want, or go with what you already have in you arsenal. Since you own a few C necks, I'm assuming they suit you. Therefore, it makes sense that you go with that. If they don't, or if you're constantly thinking that they'd fit you better if they had "a bit less/more of this or that", go with what you have in mind, but a tad thinner. It'll be easier to adapt to. If you go with something that ends up being too fat, you're more likely to not play the guitar. Last but not least, if you're ready to pull the trigger on a custom shop, you should drive up to that dealer and try a few, just the one time, regardless of how far it is. A custom shop is a major purchase. Hope this helps. Best of luck. Cheers
@xArsVivendi5 жыл бұрын
Hey man, I don't know if you have ordered already, but I own a CS Strat with a 59 neck 0.79 - 0.98 and I'm able to play Hendrix chords with 19cm hand length, although I find it a little too beefy past the 10th fret. I think an early 60s C (0.79 - 0.93) or mid 60's C (0.83-0.95) would be a good fit for you, since you don't want a little more beef than a modern C (0.83 - 0.89)...

President 1303, terribly sorry I missed this question in the queue until now! Terribly sorry. I hope you have moved forward and maybe even found your dream guitar but if not, here's my two cents:) For a chunkier neck that is not too large I prefer a 10/56 carve. The secret sauce there as well if you want her to fit a bit better if you do not have large hands is to ask for it to be a slightly smaller 10/56. I have found that shape to be a magic bullet for both tone and comfort if paired with the right parts. Let me know if you have any other questions and I would love to try and help!
