Great review! I'm just now getting into this game and it is a little different from games like MCP and warmachine, but I'm willing to learn the active/reactive kinda play that this game offers. Also, thank you for the breakdown of the rulebook. I'm sure it'll help e understand the game better.

I looooove infinity, and so I really liked that your video made it pretty obvious that infinity players who want to diversify their genres will like this
@EsotericOrderGamers Жыл бұрын
Infinity is one of those games that just didn't grab me (I've got a battle report on my channel in which we absolutely mangled the badly written rules - which is probably the reason!), but maybe I'll revisit it one day. It's certainly very highly regarded.
@CTCParadox Жыл бұрын
Apparently the game was made by one of the Infinity players that used to play in the group I now play in in Japan. He went back to Slovenia and made this game. The influences are clear but I tried a game the other day and it plays pretty differently.

Damn, I don't want another game, but this looks really cool. Good video! Really gave appetite for it, even if I have to hold back :D Love that reaction system.

I think the best way to describe eldfalls is if you like the infinity skirmish game but you wished there was a fantasy version- eldfalls is that. That being said if you don’t like the gameplay of infinity then yeah I don’t think eldfall will do anything for you.

Thanks for the review! I'm also in the age where I prefer easier and funnier games. In germany we call them "Bier & Bretzel" games. Currently my favorites are Freebooters Fate, Warcry and Moonstone. They really hit my taste and your review helped me in my decision for Eldfall Chronicles. Maybe I'll get some of the minis anyway because they look amazing.
@EsotericOrderGamers Жыл бұрын
They're called 'beer and pretzel' games here, I wonder which came first! Though I'd usually put even simpler games in that category; I still need a bit of brain power to play Warcry and Moonstone. 😆

In my dietary case, lighter games are more a case of 'tonic water and tamari almonds'. Which *really* doesn't have the same ring to it! 😅

I love the idea of the action/reaction system, but I think it might be a bit crunchier than we want right now. That said, I absolutely love the theme and have my eye on the upcoming dungeon crawler they're doing. I'm more open to heavier co-ops, as you don't have to worry about one player having more experience and running away with the game.
@EsotericOrderGamers Жыл бұрын
I'll have more information on the dungeoncrawler in a week or two as I'm getting a prototype.

@@EsotericOrderGamers If you do, could you have a look at complexity and variability? At least in the German community, there's a pretty big concern on that right now, with people seeing it as possibly too simple (which clashes a bit with your view on the rules for the skirmish, but the crawl may be different). Could help to have more info on that, as a lot of people seem uncertain what it's going to be like.

Thank you for your nice review. If this is not your favorite game in the genre, what other game do you recommend instead? In a fast style and less fuss
@EsotericOrderGamers Жыл бұрын
I mentioned a few others I'm enjoying at the moment which have lower overhead rules-wise - I don't have a 'favourite' as such, but Relicblade, Moonstone, and Warcry are all fun fantasy skirmishers that are a bit more straightforward.
@Triaglon Жыл бұрын
@@EsotericOrderGamers Thank you ! I will see that.

I definitely second Relic Blade if you're after a fun fantasy skirmish with strong Saturday-morning-cartoon vibes, otherwise, post-apocalyptic jungles and dinosaurs game The Drowned Earth also has an engaging reaction mechanic and a dynamic, parkour movement system...

Awesome. Now I don't have to make my own homebrew fantasy version of Infinity!
