I was fortunate enough to pick up Silent SR from BDU for the ridiculous price of $175. I'm pretty sure it was priced in error but they honored the sale. The can cost less than the government bribe... I mean tax stamp.

I have the Ruger Sr and the Mask.The Mask is without a doubt quieter on my 22/45 Lite and Taurus Tx22 both in FRP and overall.This is even more apparent when shooting the high velocity bulk stuff that does stay subsonic in a pistol but has more pop than subs.Now they get very very similar when it comes to the long guns with subsonic stuff.I believe your video shows just that at least to my ears.Shooting 22LR supersonic with a can really is pointless for me because it still cracks loud ..though with a .17hmr or 22wmr it does help get the noise in front of you and not ring ears as bad.I imagine same with the 5.7 I will say this about the Mask.I was not happy when I first got it.Out of the box it was no quieter than the Ruger and had FRP .It was only after it got about 100 rounds through it that I started to see the difference in performance.I was reminded of this just this weekend when I cleaned the Mask.It was shockingly loud clean and could tell even better having all this time behind it being dirty.I shoot about everyday on my property day and night and know exactly what it suppose to sound like. Great video and comparison.I am interested in the Phantom and can see from the video that supersonic stuff they are all about the same but again pointless for my personal use.Id also be interested to see the accuracy of the Phantom.Id like one for another rifle can and the weight is nice.But for performance with a 22 pistol the Mask gets my vote still.

So I'm 7 1/2 months into waiting for my Ruger Silent SR. I'm kinda shocked you didn't make more of a big deal of the fact that if you are threading these under a handguard or in my case, into the "cage" on a TacSol SBX barrel on my Ruger 10/22, the only one you don't have to worry about leaving half your Suppressor trapped under the handguard, is the Ruger. That was the deal-Maker for me. I didn't want to be at the range and try to switch the suppressor to my Walther P22Q and then have to figure out how to get the other half out of the TacSol SBX barrel. Or during cleaning. The tool thing to me is not a big deal especially if it means I can remove my Suppressor in one piece. Something to think about if you plan on threading this inside a handguard.

Man, I wish I'd have read this comment 11 months ago! I have a similar barrel on my 10/22 and I'm terrified I'm gonna leave a piece somewhere my fingers can't get. I didn't give this aspect any consideration when choosing a suppressor.

@rodneyws1977 Жыл бұрын
@@ElevatedD, most suppressors are gonna open up at both ends. I have a Banish 22 and if I really tighten it down on my TacSol barrel I’m going to get a piece of the suppressor stuck on my barrel with no way to remove it. The barrel’s suppressor shroud will be an impediment. For that reason I don’t tighten it down and it starts to loosen as I shoot. No problem on a pistol host. Apparently, the Ruger suppressor is one that you can safely use with that TacSol barrel.

Here in Canadastan, silencers are illegal for all guns. Even sub-500fps pellet rifles. All of western Europe not only legalized, but suggest/recommend that people use them. This makes total sense. You're not even allowed to carry a pocket knife in most EU countries, but suppressors for ANY caliber are recommended. For good reason, too - most ranges here (eastern Canada) limit their outdoor ranges to 308 max due to noise, ironically. Our laws, which I will always, always adhere to while I'm here, can often be silly, like a snake eating its own tail. My intention is to drive south from Nova Scotia to Maine, and find some ranges where I'd be able to rent/borrow a silencer for my rifle (likely 30-06 or 6.5PRC), and give it back when I'm done. A few hours of driving, sure, but I'd get my rifle sighted in and get a good feel for it. What I'm wondering, though, is why suppression is so regulated in the USA, of all places? I'm not talking about liberal vs conservative or who votes for whom, I'm talking about the logic behind bans/regulation of suppressors specifically. What crimes, other than the ones that happen regardless of noise, are suppressors facilitating? I heard poaching is a problem, I heard some irresponsible shots end up causing damage/worse, with no proof as to where they come from, but here's the thing - if someone wanted to suppress a firearm for any nefarious reason, what good would a ban or regulation do? Silencers are apparently easy to make - though not as good as these ones of course, but it's not rocket science. Poaching is one of the reasons silencers are banned here, the other is, I believe, ambushes that could compromise our gov't security detail (secret service, but north). I know those are valid reasons, but I'd still like to know how bad poaching is that they'd have to ban them nationwide, especially on subsonic air rifles for crying out loud. A 420fps pellet gun, and it's not allowed to have plastic baffles to make it a little more discreet. If suppressed shots are all it takes to overwhelm a security detail, then why do Sweden, Finland, Norway, the UK, France, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, all have zero problems with them? I thought being a good neighbor was the point, shooting etiquette. We are, after all, adults. I had to take the course & provide references to get my license, I'm not fool enough to think being quiet means not getting caught if I were to break the rules. What I was hoping could be arranged here, is a range officer could be given an inventory of suppressors/silencers [sorry I use the words interchangeably] - and that range officer would be in charge of managing their use & storage. They'd allow the timed, monitored use of them, like a librarian signing a book out but being in the room while you read it, then accounting for each at the end of the session. People could pay into it, or upgrade their gun club memberships to include it. They could be given to only bolt-action/single shot rifles. We all know, a suppressed 30-06 is still really loud, but with suppressors, people could bring their 300WM, their 45-70 lever actions, and maybe the odd 338? Let's have some fun. Suppressors could be equipped with tracking devices easily. The range officer maintains/cleans them, accounting for every one. Safe. No harm done, nobody takes them off site. People don't have to end up driving to the middle of nowhere just so they can break in & sight in their new rifles, maybe even get good at it.

@johnbauby6612 Жыл бұрын
It is all nonsense. Suppressors can be made with parts you already have in your basement or kitchen for a few dollars, not legally of course if you live in the US. These manufacturing companies hype their product and pretend they have some engineering marvel but the simple fact is a can is a can is a can for the most part. Yes, a few exceptions but mostly all the same. They want you to think there is something magical about their product in order to justify the absurd prices they charge. You can add an expensive metal to make it lighter as in titanium but it is still a can. They should cost $25 out the door but the ATF makes them carry a manufacturing FFL, plus insurance, plus overhead, plus, plus, plus and next thing you know you have a $1000piece of tin, plus your $200 tax stamp of course. RIdiculous.

@MaryJane-bi6et which makes it even more moronic. At least if it is machined individual parts can be replaced when there is a baffle strike. Still ov e r priced junk
@lspencer363311 ай бұрын
Lol they'd still be expensive either way. You want them to be well machined to avoid accuracy and POI shift or aligment issues. Even decent muzzle brakes (which are obviously much smaller and less crucial than suppressors) can be $150 +, a suppressor is going to cost a lot more than $25 regardless of NFA laws
