I bought one becuz i saw PK use it and it really does make cleaning the crabs much faster. I highly recommend getting one no matter how often you crab.

Here in Nova Scotia we use american shad for lobster and crab bait. Love catching shad on ultra light tackle.

As far as using chicken for bait goes... I know Walmart usually and WinCo sell 10-lb bags of chicken leg quarters for 5 to $7... They are frozen rock solid though look in the frozen food section 😉

Hi Pk, I'm new to crabbing. Thank you for the valuable tips. I learned something from you again, Btw, when setting up your bullet buoy which one should be on top. The white or red color. Also, what rod would you recommend for crabbing. Thanks again!
@oregonlife4 жыл бұрын
The red so it's more visible from afar. Rod needs to be really strong like an ugly stik tiger rod.

My 10 ft Okuma rod is rated for a 3 to 8 oz wt and works very well. Make sure you use at least 60lb braid but i went to 80lb after losing a couple traps on 40lb braid.

Uncle have you try using prok hok?
@oregonlife4 жыл бұрын
I haven't yet. That is too smelly for my taste.

Question...I know it’s off subject and all...but where in Oregon would be the best to find muscles...
@jaikim44994 жыл бұрын
They are plentiful around many rocky areas. Seal rock, just south of newport has a ton of places to go. You need to go at a minus tide.

Oregon Life wow, I really appreciate the reply. I’ve been trying for a week and I can get only one keeper every other day. I’ve been to Garibaldi in Seaside and have had no luck. I’m from Portland

Siletz is also a very popular spot but it gets very crowded quickly so you have to go out early if you want to get a good spot.
