Thanks so much Ginger! I love having my paper stored in the flip bins. Unfortunately, they do take up valuable surface space. I tried to put them in the Kallax but that didn't work too well because you can't see the paper in the back of the bin when you are flipping through the paper and if you pull the bin out it's super heavy. That would be super cool if you could have a flip bin inside of a shelving unit.

I put myself on a paper buying freeze for the last 2 years and it has worked out great! I'm like you , I have enough paper to last me a very long time. So I only buy solid cardstock and adhesive . This forces me to use the paper I already have . At times I say "Wow, Merry Christmas to me" I have also given some printed papers to friends. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Bernice ... That's so awesome that you were able to do the spending freeze for 2 years. lol ... my spending freeze for paper only lasted a few months before I was back to buying more paper. I just love paper so much and it's the first thing that I look for when I go to the craft store or Tuesday Morning. So, instead of a spending freeze, I've been allowing myself to buy paper, but only when I really love it and don't have anything similar already in my stash! So, I'm not bringing in as much paper as I had been, but I'm still allowing myself to indulge once in awhile 😁

Thank you. Really, thank you so much! I have watched what feels like 100's of paper storage videos. This is really the one that makes the most sense to me at this moment. I have always loved flipping through paper at Expo or other large events. I also make up my own kits that I actually store this way. I am unsure why, but I never have thought of storing my paper at home this way. Since my space is limited, I have use a lot of other ideas...but not this one. Then the suggestion to use page protectors...just brilliant! I have been purchasing 2.5 gallon ziplock bags...they work great, but are bulky and take up a lot of space. I want you to know that I am going to start as soon as I can purchase some page protectors organizing this way. I let you know how it works and send you a picture when I am done!

Hi Kathryn ... so happy that my video helped you. I would love to see your flip bins when you get them set up. I've been going through some of the paper in my flip bins and resorting it into other categories. I'm still keeping some of it by manufacturer and collection but putting some paper by other types of categories like woodgrains, backgrounds, shapes, icons, etc. So, I'm going to be doing some more paper sorting today! I just love playing with paper even if it is just to sort and organize it. Hope you have an awesome day today and get to do something crafty!!!! Karen

You are my spirit animal! I have the same paper addiction. I put myself on a “no more paper” moratorium several years ago. And while my paper purchases have slowed down, I cannot say that I’ve stopped. I should stop. I TRY to stop, but once in awhile, I just cannot walk out and leave THAT paper behind. Paper must be my first love. And I used to be a scrapbooker, but I do make cards and other paper projects ... but it doesn’t use the paper fast enough! Thank you for your video.

Hi Dawn, yes ... the paper addiction is real!!! I tried the spending freeze on paper but only lasted about 3 months. lol ... I felt like I was on a Paper diet. I'm back to buying paper and I probably have more paper than I will ever be able to use but I've come to the realization that if it makes me happy, then that's ok. I get joy even from just looking through the paper, so I now consider myself a scrapbooker and a paper collector.

March 2021, If you haven't found bins yet, try going over to Big Lots. Took me a while but I finally found heavyweight plastic bins with side handles that are about 10 w x 14L by 9 H. They are plenty sturdy and fit my 12 ix12 paper, and since ithey are only 9 inches high, I found I can flip through easily to see my paper stash. And they are only $6.00 a piece.

Thanks for the tip .... I do have the plastic record sleeves from Amazon also and I probably should have mentioned that as an option in my video. I wish there was a way to edit the videos on KZbin because there always seems to be something that I forget to mention. The reason that i use the page protectors is because they fit my bin and the record sleeves are too big. But I think the record sleeves would be an awesome option if you used a larger bin.

Hi Jennifer ... I only store single 12x12 papers and also some Collections that I put into 12x12 Page Protectors in my Flip Bins. I have a couple more videos on the Flip Bins that might help if you haven't watched those. - Flip Storage Bins FAQ kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWq3lHSKhbOSqMk - Flip Bin Storage Update kzbin.info/www/bejne/onezpqB7gNKVrsU I don't store my paper pads in a flip bin, but you could store your 12x12 Paper Pads in a flip bin upside down which would allow you to flip through the paper pads the same way that you flip through individual papers. I have all of my paper pads in Storage Cubes. Here's a link to my video on my Paper Pad storage kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXu6eYuFjZl2fNk. Can you tell me what you used for dividers? I found them through Totally Tiffany but they are pretty expensive for how many I would need. (I am in the process of putting all of my Close to my Heart colored cardstock in a tote. I have a lot of out of town crops coming up and need to be able to take it.) I am wondering if I could put a piece of chipboard into a page protector and then put a tab on it to use as a divider but that would mean I have to buy the protectors, chipboard and tabs and that would be a bit of an expense. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

That’s a great idea! I love the flip method. I don’t have counter top space, so I need to incorporate it into my fake Kallax cube system with maybe a box I can pull out. What do you think?
@YesPleasePapercrafts
@YesPleasePapercrafts 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much 🤗 My flip bins do fit in the Kallax and I so wanted to be able to store the flip bins in my Kallax because that would have freed up work space. Unfortunately, for me it didn't work because I don't have a lot of strength in my hands (I've had carpal tunnel surgery in both hands) and I couldn't see most of the paper without pulling the bin out of the cube and it was super heavy. You could definitely try it ... I did see some other comments where people were going to give this a try. If you do try it, I would love to hear if it works for you.
@stampbooker
@stampbooker 4 жыл бұрын
Yes Please Papercrafts, oh yes, I can see if you have carpal tunnel it would make it quite difficult since paper is SO heavy! So to put in a Kallax cube, which way would you put the paper? Sideways so you could kind of flip through it in the cube? Or facing forward and just need to pull it out when flipping through it? I can see it both ways 🤷🏻‍♀️
@YesPleasePapercrafts
@YesPleasePapercrafts 4 жыл бұрын
@@stampbooker I think if you put the bin sideways, then you would be able to flip through all the paper without pulling the bin too far out of the cube but you may still have limited visibility (just because it's sitting in the cube and you will only be able to see from the front. But I think to get paper out, you may still have to pull the bin out of the cube. I have the Lekman boxes in the bottom row of my Kallax, then on the second row, I have the drawer inserts, so I could only try the flip bin on the third row. It might work better to have it in the second row because then you could look down on the bin and it would may be be easier to pull in and out of the cube. I do have paper stored in my kallax using either 12x12 page protectors or the project keepers from Hobby Lobby. I store it vertically and I can flip through it and just pull out what I need.

I came across your video and love this idea! Question....how would you store paper packs that have 40+ sheets in it? Would you split it and use two (or more) page protector sheets for the same theme?
@YesPleasePapercrafts
@YesPleasePapercrafts 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Karen ... yes, you could either split it into multiple page protectors or just put the paper behind a divider for that theme. I am currently resorting some of my paper in my flip bins into some categories like woodgrains, backgrounds, chevrons, polka dots, etc. and I have some themes like travel and pets. I am planning to just create some dividers for those categories/themes just put the loose paper behind the dividers. If there's something that I want to keep together, then I use the page protectors and the ones that I use (either Scrapbook.com brand or We R Memory Keepers) you can fit about 15-20 sheets of heavy patterned paper. Also, the longer the paper is stored in the page protector, it stretches a little and it will get easier to pull the paper in and out of the page protector. But I think the best approach to using a flip bin is keeping most of the paper loose and using dividers to separate the different categories/themes because it makes it easier to see the paper. Hope this helps. --Karen

Hi I’m sorry to bother you but I need some advice. I found how to make your filing it was pretty much of a challenge but I was able to work it out some what. What do you do in case you can’t find one of your paper pads? What other areas can I look for them? Some of mine are pretty old. Can you help me out or give me some suggestions I would really appreciate and thank you 😊
@YesPleasePapercrafts
@YesPleasePapercrafts 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Janell ... the best way to search for images is to use google images. Join my Facebook organization group (facebook.com/groups/1271445126349674) and then you can look in the photo album (facebook.com/media/set/?set=oa.1327115260782660&type=3) where I uploaded copies of all the paper pads that I have. If you can't find the image on google or in my Facebook group, then the only other way to get a picture, is to take a picture with your phone or camera. When you take your picture set your phone to use the square (1:1) mode, put your paper pad on the floor, stand over it and shoot straight down or put your paper pad on a table, stand on a ladder and shoot straight down so that you only see the paper pad. Hope this helps. Karen

Just wondering, have you bought any paper since you made this video? I think you speak for many of us😉

@YesPleasePapercrafts 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kat ... I did go on a spending freeze for about 3 months last year but then I was not happy with restricting myself and not letting myself buy paper especially when I would find something that I really loved. LOL ... It was like being on a paper diet!!! I really tried to stay out of the crafting stores but I just love going to Tuesday Mornings ... it's like going on a crafty treasure hunt where you never know what you'll find. I also love watching KZbin videos and you know what happens when you see someone share a project or maybe they show a paper pad in their video ... and it was like watching someone eat cake when you are on a diet. I am happy to say that I am no longer on a spending freeze and I'm super happy to be able to look through all the paper my heart desires at any store that I go to without feeling guilty. I have not been limiting myself but instead just doing some serious thinking about each paper pad before I buy it. I ask myself some questions about each paper pad ... I ask myself if I have anything similar? Do I really love it or do I just like it? I try to also buy things with a specific project in mind. Sometimes I put the paper in my cart and it goes with me around the store as I shop. Before I check out, I will look through the paper in my cart and If I'm still in love, it goes home with me. And, if I have to have an addiction, I think buying paper and crafty things is a pretty good one to have!!! I'm beginning to realize that there is no such thing as too much paper! And, life is really too short to feel guilty about the things that bring you joy. I say "do what makes you happy" and if that's buying paper, then that's what you should do! Karen 🤗

What do you do if you have a collection with matching embellishments?
@YesPleasePapercrafts
@YesPleasePapercrafts 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Deanna ... this is going to be a long answer just because what I'm doing now, I'm going to be changing. I think most people find embellishments to be difficult because they come in all different shapes and sizes. I am currently storing embellishments by type and size ... so die cuts together, enamel dots together, chipboard together, etc. So, I have some things by manufacturer and collection (sorted alphabetically) in a lot of different places in my craft room. If I want to work with a collection, then I know where to go to look for things but I have to go to different places to get those things. For example, I have die cuts stored in CD/DVD sleeves in storage cube drawers , 12x12 chipboard is stored in a large target y-weave basket, washi tape in a recollections washi tape storage case. It's nice that I can find the things that go with collections because I do have them stored that way but then I also have to remember what I have so that I know where to go to get them. It's working ok but I've been thinking about making some changes. I started resorting some of my paper that is currently stored by manufacturer and collection into other categories (i.e., woodgrain, stripes, florals, etc.) For any paper or paper pad that I decide that I want to continue to store by manufacturer/collection, I think I'm going to collect all the embellishments that go with that collection and put them in one place. The loose paper will stay my flip bins and paper pads in my storage cubes but I am planning to put all the embellishments for each collection in one place. I've thought about some possible storage solutions for storing the embellishments including using the IRIS Slim Project Cases, Totally Tiffany Project Folders, Creative Memories Power Project Folders, The Paper Studio Project Folders, 12x12 Page Protectors, Record Album Sleeves to store the embellishments. Any of these storage solutions could be stored vertically on my Kallax shelving unit. I think that I would remember to use things more if kept all the embellishments for collections together in one place. The organization for my craft room is a "work in progress" and I'm still trying to figure out what storage and organization works best for me. I think sometimes it's just a matter of trying out different ways to store things until you figure out the best way that works for you. I've really started thinking about organization in terms of "How do I find it" instead of "How do I store it". Hope this helps.

Yes Please Papercrafts thank you for your thorough answer. I like to keep my collections all together. I have started using the record sleeve holders from Big Fudge that I bought on amazon and am trying to get my collections out of their packaging. I also have some collections from an old kit club that have more elements on extra large ziploc bags. I’m not a fan of 3 dimensional embellishments other than chipboard and enamel dots. I’m in the process of sorting my paper by color but wasn’t sure if I should keep my patterns together or by color. I think Janet at RTS has her patterned paper in with her colored paper. Not sure what to do with multicolored paper that doesn’t have one dominant color. Do you keep your tonal stripes in stripes or with their colors?

Hi Deanna ... I have three videos on paper sorting that I created recently on my channel, so you might want to check those out. I mostly keep paper by color only when that paper has one color. If I have a paper that has multiple colors than I will usually put it into another category like florals, chevrons, stripes, etc. I also sort paper by asking questions in this order ... 1) Do I want to keep it with a collection? (2) Is it seasonal like Christmas, Halloween, 4th of July, (3) Is it a specific theme (pets, travel, etc.), (4) how would I use this paper? by color, is it a background, as embellishments to cut apart, or would it fit into one of my paper categories (woodgrain, stripe, clouds). So, for me, it's more about where would I look if I was trying to find that paper. I also started doing something that I saw Janet at RTS scrapbooking do which is if you have multiple pieces of the same paper, I put them into different places (one paper by color and then the other one in a different category). Hope this helps. Karen

Yes, it is very hard to stop! lol ... my spending freeze didn't last long. I really felt like I was on a crafty diet. My paper collection has grown even more over the past couple of years as I decided to go back to buying paper, but trying to be a little more picky and only buy the paper I love and try not to buy things just because they are on sale.

What cubes are you using? Don't see links to them

There are no links to cubes in this video for the bins because I've had these bins for about 8 years and I don't know what they are called or who makes them but they don't appear to be available anywhere. I could not find these types of half cubes in any stores or online. Any box, bin or basket that has straight sides and that is at least 12" wide should work. I think it works best if you get a bin that is between 5 and 8" high.

I like your solution but I don't understand how you find what you are looking for. If you are looking for a sheet for a birthday, how do you go about finding it. Sorry if I am misunderstanding.

This video was more about storing the paper in the flip bin and making it easy to see and flip through and not really about organizing it. You can organize your paper in a flip bin by theme, seasons, categories, manufacturers, colors and how you think you might want to search for it. If you scrapbook by theme, then you could have dividers for each theme, like birthday, pets, travel, etc. Then when you need a birthday paper, you can go to that divider to find all your birthday paper. I don't have all my paper stored in the flip bins, so if I need a paper for birthday or any specific theme, I go to my scrapracks which is where I have everything stored by theme and seasons. I also keep reference guides for all of my paper pads and collections and I have those reference guides organized by themes and other categories so I can flip through the reference guides when I'm looking for paper by themes, seasons and other categories. At the time I made this video, I was storing only my paper by manufacturer/collection in the flip bins. I keep some paper by manufacturer and collection because that's how I look for that paper mainly because I also have coordinating embellishments (like ephemera, stickers, chipboard, washi tape, etc.) also stored by manufacturer/collection. I'm still working on my paper organization and I recently moved the paper by color form a rolling storage cube into another flip bin and that flip bin is organized by the rainbow where I have a divider for each color. I also posted three videos recently on my channel on sorting paper because I'm taking some of the paper that was in my flip bins and re-sorting it into some other categories like woodgrain, backgrounds, chevrons, polka-dots, etc. Here's a link to the first video on paper sorting ... Sorting Paper Part 1 kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqmclnmCgrp_hbs) When I sort anything in my craft room, I ask myself the following questions (in this order) ... 1. Is this seasonal (spring, summer, fall, winter)? 2) Is this a theme (pets, travel, celebrations (birthday, graduation, wedding), etc.) 3) Is this part of a collection? 4) would this fit in one of my categories (woodgrain, cut-apart, background, chevron 5) If I answer no to questions 1 thru 4, then I organize it by the rainbow. Hope this helps. Karen
