I love the way you illustrated organizing the kitchen cooking utensil drawer. I still need more help in my small galley kitchen his but one thing I've done is to put the turkey baster and lifters inside my roasting pan along with its rack and lid. The beaters lay next to the hand mixer, the attachments sit inside the stand mixer bowl, etc. I can't wait for more information on how to organize the kitchen and all my spaces. Thank you Nikki! Nikki, as always you break down things in a way that makes perfect sense. I do have a question about what you would suggest for those who don't have a lot of kitchen drawers? I live in an older home that has a hand built kitchen with a single drawer. Structure, consistency & discipline is the only way (that I know of) to achieve & maintain order. Nikki, I wish I worked for you. I love the house analogy! That makes it easier to think about organizing and what I want to do with my stuff. I only have a small pantry, one set of top cabinets, one bottom cabinet (besides under the sink) and one regular sized drawer. Besides that, I also have one small cabinet and one very small drawer. I have had to be really creative to make my kitchen work. I got one of those light blue Ikea carts, and it has helped a great deal. I can just pull it over to the cooking area when I need it. I use the top for spices, and have two really cute antiqued buckets for utensils I don't use as much (they need to be organized by family for sure.) The second shelf is for essentials like pasta, barley and rice, and the bottom is for baking. I put all of our dishes in the small pantry, because it is by the dishwasher, and it is too deep to function as a real pantry. And my dry goods are in the double cabinet. I have purged as much as I can. I do look forward to having a bigger kitchen soon, so I can put things like the toaster and stand mixer away. My counter tops are pretty full due to me being an avid cook and having a very small kitchen (and my apartment is expensive.) I do at least try to make things look nice. This video is very helpful! Hi Nikki. Is there a rule for when an item(s) is not used for a period of time? Within 3mo, 6mo or longer? Organization is great for things that are used daily. I worry for those who have so much STUFF to create a "store" display at home. There must be a fine line.
