What do you do with group schedule when you have a holiday or pd day? Do you just skip those groups that day? Someone told me they always do Daily 5 / Guided Reading / Writers Workshop 4 days a week to handle that (there seem to be so many 4 Day weeks.)

One FAB Teacher I found the assessment record, I was a bit off at 3:00, it's more 3:15 with the levels and instructional focus I'm after and I couldn't see a name on that one :) no drama if it's not available, I only have kids on a few lower levels and it's probably be worthwhile for me to collate myself from the continuum. You've inspired me to finally get my GR stuff organised - I've had a couple of tries as a first year teacher and I'm getting a better idea of what I need all the time and this has been very useful ❤️ thanks

Girl, I am LOVING that you are sharing all of the great binders that you use! This makes my teacher heart SO happy!!! You really ROCK!!! Thank you!!!! It's such a great idea that you put the amazing reminders of our purpose as teachers in your binders! I love the encouragement! I LOVE the little page flaggies to group your kiddos! I use the 1/4 page stickies to move my kiddos around, but these fit so much better! We use F&P as well!!! You have such great little helper sheets too! Our Literacy Coach made some of these for us on cardstock and I ALWAYS have that beside me when I'm listening to kiddos read for assessment so I don't forget since things change according to book level. Mine are looking a little worn from all the love I give them! LOL! I think 3 groups is a very doable schedule. I have tried to squeeze in 4 but then I feel so rushed and also that I am shortchanging ALL of my kiddos. I try to stick to 3 a day as well and rotate them around so each kiddos gets their time with me! Thank you so much for sharing how you organize your Guided Reading Binder! Love and hugs!!!

I have a video suggestion. I love the examples you always give for teaching and I love your enthusiasm and love and passion. I think you should do a video of you actually teaching! Maybe set the camera up in the back, angle it to where the kids aren’t in the video if that’s an issue, and just film you teaching a somewhat short lesson. Maybe 10 minutes or so. I’d just love to see how you actually teach!!!

This video is so helpful, definitely has me thinking about how I would like to set up my own guided reading binder. I was wondering where the Running Records cheat sheet was from? When you take your running records for the focus child in each session, are they reading aloud the whole text while their peers read silently/softly to themselves?
