I am a maximalist who gets freaked out by having too much stuff! The older I get, the more I realize how little we actually need (and yet, I keep buying more). I love a good purge and have lots of areas to tackle in my space so I love videos like this to give me a push!

I remember it was really hard for me to get rid of some of my undergrad notes. Especially my organic chemistry - I remember those notes being spectacular (if I say so myself) I’m now in my 40’s, I kept my lab books from my PhD, everything else went into the recycling bin years ago. I’ve never needed or missed them. 😊

Relatable! I love that a lot in the cubby was there last time. It’s not an unrealistic organizational video where you get rid of a lot and it ends up aesthetic and not functional. This corner of KZbin is my favorite. #SafePlace ✨ I’m trying hard to be a minimalist because it’s less for me to maintain and that’s a mental load I hate carrying!

I've been using up art and journal supplies. Passing on some stuff. It does really feel good to have just a small amount of accessories and clothes too.

I'm moving from my home in the suburbs to a studio apartment in a big city. So, I have to learn to be more of a minimalist. I'm pretty excited to finally go through boxes of stuff that I don't need, it's like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders!

Great video, love organizing! To avoid book rot, I also keep the little silica packets when I buy stuff new and put them behind my books on my bookshelf 😊

I can’t tell you the relief I felt getting rid of my college textbooks and notes.. I donated the textbooks to my local library, and the notebooks that were empty and other school supplies to my local elementary school. Also they were so excited to take any of my no longer used art supplies Or stationary supplies like pens, paper, markers etc..

So relatable not wanting to get rid of notes from university!! I worked hard on those even though I’ll probably never look at them again!

Feeling inspired to do some decluttering this weekend! Started handling organisation in smaller chunks, as you suggested, and it’s so much easier. Thanks for your tips! 😊

If it makes you feel better… this month I just got rid of a book about how to survive your first year of teaching and I’m finishing up my 17th year, so I get the emotional pull of holding on to things from your past. But it was nice to review my notes and know that I did survive lol.

If maximal is a word (which it is...) than I am definitely fitting of its description. I'm currently purging books as well and it's been a slow process because I'm indecisive!! ughhh Well done with this and thank you for sharing.

Watching you organize things is always such great motivation to get me moving on my own clutter! Also- I'm in the middle - definitely cannot be considered a minimalist but am trying (also with you as inspiration) to be more intentional about the things I am bringing in and what I actually need to hold on to!

Can we just acknowledge that not EVERYTHING needs to look appealing? Some places in our how just need to function as storage, if you can find it, no shame!

Donate the empty binders to a local school. I always have a bunch of empty binders for my students. They break A LOT of binders during the school year!

I graduated from university in 1998 and I still keep some of my notes…😅 anyway, I used to have tons of makeup (like…a lot for one face😅) and it was getting expired…so I had to throw a lot. Then the pandemic hit and I completely stopped using makeup. I decided to throw everything (I could not donate anything at that time) and it has been the best decision ever. Since then, I only buy makeup when I have used something up and I cannot be happier. Plus I am saving lots of money. Excellent video as always, Catlin. Take care❤❤

I’m definitely a minimalist!! I like to have a few things but not go overboard. I recently sold some appliances that I had been holding onto for 5 years now. They were just in a draw waiting for future me to use but now other people are. Felt so proud of myself especially with where they came from and whom I was using them with which is all in the past now. 😊

It's been a gradual thing for me, letting go of university books and essays. Some things went out immediately, others later, and more later again. In the end, I kept some of my essays, but scanned them and shredded out all but a few projects. I used the same process with my book collection when due to rheumatoid arthritis, I could no longer hold and read physical books (reading exclusively ebooks and audiobooks now). Still have some that are my treasures, but everything else got donated. Only forward! (that's a book quote 😀)

I am more now on the minimailist side but not completely. I keep the things that i love and are purposeful. Also, for travel bags I keep mine in my suitcase as i am more likely to use them only when I travel and save so much space! :)

I am a minimalist.. especially for clothing and books. I hoard creative supplies because I tend to jump around. I also have a huge unused pantry because I want to be more adventurous in the kitchen but stick to a very strict routine. 😅

See if you can drop off the text books back at the University book store. They will likely have a second hand sale.

For your mirror you can just spletch (spetter in dutch) some sprinkles on the glass and whipe with a cloth. Than you don't need chemicals. Just a suggestion

My dream is to be a minimalist, but the reality is clutter because I hoard things of random sentiment. For example, confetti from concerts. It’s quite literally trash, but the memories are so strong, my delusional self believes i’ll scrapbook it properly

I was wondering if Nikole would be able to use some of those old binders you have for Sage’s schooling or any younger family members for that matter? My local Staples takes lightly used school supplies for donations too so maybe yours does too? Just wanted to let you know because some of the binders in the trash pile still looked good on camera

More of a Minimalist than a Maximalist I think🤔 I think 'essentialist' maybe... Check with your university if they will take the textbooks back - either for money, or just to recycle them. Your public library may take them but most likely won't. The only things I kept from my university days - official transcript, and my degree 😹
