How good are smart plugs. Them with Alexa are so good. You can set them to turn on at sunrise and off at sunset each day so it adjusts with the seasons if you wanted. I ask it to turn them off if I want them off earlier than scheduled ie watching a movie and don’t want the glare. I also use my grow lights as a bit of home security so it always looks like someone is home. Super handy to even be able to turn lights on and off when you’re away from home. With your Hoya Chicken Farm, would you consider spraying it and then chuck it outside for spring/ summer and let the local bugs do their thing? In Australia, we have white oil (aerosol) and something called scale gun. These are amazing for getting rid of scale and mealys (just have to leave them out of direct light for a day or so due to the oil and potential to burn). I usually only have to thoroughly spray once, occasionally twice. Otherwise I often just chuck them in my yard somewhere with suitable light/ hang it off a tree and let the bugs and ants do their thing and 99% of the time are fine. Also I’ve always wanted a bunny ear cactus but like asparagus ferns, they are banned where I live and aren’t sold in stores. Looks like I’m not missing out on too much lol Loving these videos. Inspires me to get focus and organised with my collection especially over “winter” which is still 20+ degree days 😂 but I’m much more enthusiastic about getting things done when it’s not 35 degrees and humid.

@claire287486 ай бұрын
Please don't do this! Individual plugs are not rated to put out the same amount of electricity as power bars, and pulling more power through a plug than it's rated for can start a fire! There are smart bars available that would be much safer.

Hey Fern, I’m all for multiple plants on poles, but I’ve found it unnecessary with my Jose Bueno. If I had yours, I’d go in and divide all those offsets. You could put 2 on a pole if that’s what you want. By dividing it you’ll be able to orient your plants correctly on the pole and you’ll probably end up with a few to sell/trade!

The bunny ear cactus they are cute plants. I had them in the past. There furry spines you don’t really see them but they do get into your skin and is so painful you can feel them as if there inside your skin. 😣 You cannot get them out. Also they can get on your clothes too. There fluff can also come off and can be on the areas where you have them. I probably grow them outside if you really want them. Wow your Hoya Quinquenervia is growing so fast mine hasn’t given me any new leaves yet and i have it a year. Also want to say Happy one year house anniversary. 🎉Those big windows in your sitting room definitely a plus. Is actually a big space but with all your plants it feels like is hard to move around. For me i would have all my plants just at the window area on plant shelves. Also at the higher level too. Great area for succulents and cacti. That’s the way I displayed my plants at my south side window areas. And my kitchen window sills i have plants that takes the north side natural sunlights.

Hello!!! 👋 Before you toss your chicken farm try what I did! My alocasia heterophyla rapidly declined and low and behold I had ROOT mealies everywhere! I didnt wanna give up on him so here is what I did! Remove all soil! Did a full dunk of the plant in dishsoapy water for 48 hours minimum. This doesn't affect the existing roots or anything and it'll just drown the mealies. You can prob put your chicken farm in a giant bucket of water with like a tablespoon of dishsoap since yours is so big and jjst let it soak for 48 hours. Then after I did a hydrogen peroxide soak of the plant for 24 hours just to be safe that they were completely dead and repotted in fresh soil and threw it into my planty cabinet for rehab! Now hes fully recovered has beautiful 3 new leaves and NO mealies! Very healthy root system and ill have to repot him soon before taking him out because he filled the starbucks cup with roots which is so amazing! It took a few weeks but just continue to care for it as normal adding the super thrive in water as fertilizer helps a lot while it's recovering. Hopefully this helps and maybe gives you some hope!!

the bunny ear cactus has annoying spines, it's true, but if it's not somewhere windy or is not accidentally touched it should be fine. a good tip is to wet the cactus when handling, that way the water holds the spines wet and they don't fly anywhere.

I did, however, buy one of the unsafe ones and it was terrible. Those little glocids came off so easily and got all over my hands and arms so quickly in a matter of minutes without me doing anything. And it was quite painful, too. I returned it promptly and got my money back. But I love my bunny ear one.
